Well, at least they are honest about the working conditions in this LinkedIn job post.

I'm not an activist, but I'd like to find some way to support LGBT folks directly (especially the T). Any suggestions?

Workers at Amazon facility in Garner, NC, are voting to form a union. Fast Company spoke with a key organizer in a sweeping survey of the Big Tech labor movement back in December. www.fastcompany.com/91241440/how...

While they are not campaign contributions, tax-deductible charitable donations are heavily funding US political movements. @fastcompany.com reports on the top funding tools, called DAFs, used by the right and left www.fastcompany.com/91260303/ahe...

I asked ChatGPT to recommend pretty churches with stained glass windows near me...and got a recommendation for Michael's crafts store. When I walked WTF, it apologized and gave me the same response. Is this the beginning of ads?

"Even Ray Charles could see what's going on." Said NYC mayor Eric Adams claiming that enemies were unfairly investigating him. As a vision-impaired person, I have a thick skin and good sense of humor. I'm not necessarily offended, but still the comment is a bit tacky. Not a good look, so to say.

One bit of good news in the LA wildfires. The Getty Villa museum of Greek and Roman art has survived, despite devastation right up to the property line. Losing this mindblowing collection would have been...mindblowing. www.newsweek.com/pacific-pali...

I've been playing with chatbots to provide news summaries. ChatGPT is doing quite well, Google Gemini not so much. It predicted fed rate *hikes* and provided these worthless summaries of entertainment news.

This is an interesting strategy by Elon Musk to make America great, and perhaps not what the Americans who voted for Trump had in mind

Perhaps I'm the last person to figure this out. But using Apple to subscribe to online services seems the most convenient way to both subscribe and especially *unsubscribe*

This @nytimes.com profile of the Syrian city Homs succinctly shows how brutal and grim the past decade+ has been. Startling drone footage of the largely leveled ancient city. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/19/w...

Is it fair to label @bsky.app "Twitter for liberals"?

Amazon union actions take off: 12/19 Strike at 7 facilities 12/11 San Bernardino CA workers join union 12/10 Atlanta drivers join 11/27 Queens NY file EEOC charge 11/15 City of Industry CA workers join @fastcompany.com wrote about @teamsters.bsky.social as well as office worker organizing

Wow, these #Amazon strikes organized by the @teamsters.bsky.social are really taking off. Is this a new era of big-tech activism? And what can we expect from tech office workers next year?

🤩

More Amazon Teamsters authorize strike-now at DIL7 station in Skokie, Ill. I feel good that @fastcompany.com started reporting on tech labor activism (not just @ Amazon) before latest wave of strikes. Sources like @techworkerscoalition.org say expect a lot more in 2025 @teamsters.bsky.social #Amazon

We wrote about little-know hybrid-electric airplane technology in the @wsj.com in August. @archeraviation.bsky.social 's deal to develop hybrid craft for the military indicates that this trend may have legs. And OG electric plane expert Mark Moore's LinkedIn commentary backs that up.

Randy Korgan of @teamsters.bsky.social #amazon division told @fastcompany.com “What goes beyond that is a tremendous amount more,” foreshadowing future efforts like the new union that formed in San Bernardino 12/11. www.fastcompany.com/91241440/how...

. @marencosta.bsky.social tells @fastcompany.com “I think that tech workers are taking a hit down to realize we're just workers. We're just kind of cogs...like any other worker.” - creating common cause with the less-elite big tech employees.

Tech workers tell @fastcompany.com plans to deal with poss. #Trump cuts to @nlrbgov.bsky.social enforcement “A lot of people are considering things like labor stoppages and strikes as opposed to relying on labor law.” - Clarissa Redwine, @techworkerscoalition.org www.fastcompany.com/91241440/how...

In a deep dive @fastcompany.com describes how #bigtech workers are organize at #Amazon #Google @microsoft.com & many more. Input from @marencosta.bsky.social @techworkerscoalition.org @teamsters.bsky.social @lizthegrey.com @parismarx.com & more. www.fastcompany.com/91241440/how...

Any incongruities in this @forbes.com job post?

This is a great, sobering inventory of rising security threats and the dearth of laws and regulations to address them. Perhaps endangered more by the new Administration? Though Trump's positions are not very clear.

A year ago, @robpegoraro.com busted myths around "shrink" (lost and stolen products) at retail in his Worth magazine article. Just today, @bloomberglp.bsky.social caught onto that - as part of a larger, very interesting piece (Retailers Locked Up Their Products—and Broke Shopping in America).

I think publications like @fastcompany.com can label opinion pieces better. The tiny "POV" in gray text took me a while to find. Publications shouldn't worry about annoying billionaires, but cherry picking and combining snippets of quotes, which FC later acknowledged as an error, isn't a good look.

Hey all. I have not been here much since I signed up. But aiming to be here a lot more.

"How many people are going to eat the shit that he’s having?" — Nir Barzilai of Albert Einstein College of Med critiques #biohacker Bryan Johnson and the impact he has on #longevity science in our interview for Worth magazine

Longevity/anti-aging experts get lots of media requests. Glad I got so many for Worth magazine piece. @statto.bsky.social @charlesmbrenner.bsky.social Peter Diamandis Matt Kaeberlein Nir Barzilai Yousin Suh Shelley Berger Robert Hariri Sundeep Khosla David Sinclair #longevity #antiaging #xprize

Lately I've been doing a lot of reporting on #longevity #healthspan #lifespan etc. I wonder if researcher/entrepreneur Matt Kaeberlein's public split from researcher/entrepreneur David Sinclair &co portends a bigger divide.
