Sky presenting Chelsea's loss away at Champions' League Aston Villa as "the one that got away" tells you everything you need to know about English football media.

Corbyn was condemning Putin when the British PM was courting his affections 25 years ago, but OK.

Farage has announced Reform’s “biggest event yet” in Birmingham on 28 March. Join the protest to stop racist Reform and say Farage is not welcome in Birmingham. See you there.

That this is just standard deflection from real issues (tax avoidance and evasion, etc) aside: surely serious Article 8 implications? Not least if you're rifling through the private lives of some welfare recipients but not others.

Yesterday I saw someone drive into oncoming traffic, and then fully down the pavement in King's Heath, just to avoid queueing at a pedestrian crossing. The police and council have spent 7 months doing nothing to safeguard the public from this menace.

It's also very likely a violation of Article 31(1) of the Refugee Convention. Labour again showing they have no regard for international law or the most vulnerable.

In particular the provisions in the Refugee Convention on facilitation of citizenship by refugees are *not* limited to apply only to refugees who entered lawfully.

Right of return is a fundamental guarantee for all refugees, except Palestinians. That this is the case has made ethnic cleansing a virtual inevitability, and the West have been actively complicit.

Following Trump's comments on 'taking over' the Gaza Strip and resettling Palestinians, we are re-sharing our November 2023 briefing on the substantial risk of mass deportation of civilians from Gaza. The statement requires factual updating, but /1 lphr.org.uk/wp-content/u...

Trump's threats of ethnic cleansing in Gaza are abhorrent and the UK government must stand firmly against them

Unambiguously promoting ethnic cleansing. How could this become even more horrifying?

Nothing on public services, or the cost of food and energy, or the climate? Nothing on housing or inequality? No, pushing further right on migration is the answer. This Labour Party is a parody of itself. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

#Livestock farming is the leading cause of ocean dead zones ☠️ The #fishing industry is the leading cause of marine debris, incl plastic Sustainable animal agriculture DOES NOT EXIST on a 🌏 on the verge of ecological #collapse If you care about the continuation of life on Earth - please go vegan ⚖️

Birmingham is set for another punishing austerity budget from the Labour leadership. Why are there no suggestions that the government is willing to do anything about the 18% loss since 2010? People are dying because of this www.lgcplus.com/finance/coun...

🎉 Rosebank is unlawful! 🚫 New oil and gas is not the answer. 💡 Governments must invest in affordable renewable energy and home insulation to bring down bills AND emissions.

We've ended up with a government of the most intellectually incurious neoliberal automatons, possessed of the most reactionary and socially conservative values. Worst of all: we knew this was the case well before they were given this power. It's a disaster that'll only empower the far right.

How about "No, we've already paid for it. You gave the money to shareholders and demonstrated why privatisation of vital services is an economically-illiterate con."?

Greenwashing aquaculture whilst arguing whether oat milk should be called 'milk.' This is a peek into the corporate capture of global food systems, and it's as insidious now as when done by tobacco or fossils.

England's water industry promises £22bn environmental investment, funded by rising bills. Previous promises? Customers already paid for years. Companies didn't invest, paid dividends, dumped sewage. Why pay again? Soon water will cost more than energy. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

That a lot of people are seemingly terrified of 15-minute cities whilst completely unaware of the existence of charter cities speaks volumes for the power of right-wing framing in public discourse.

The fact that, in the midst of a climate crisis, the literal Spectator are publishing this and most other media are ignoring the reality of animal agriculture, is quite something.

Israel and the US are openly advocating ethnic cleansing, and sections of the UK media are beard-stroking and asking whether Arab states could "absorb" a million Palestinian refugees. Am I going mad?

Donald Trump's willingness to endorse genocide in order to build Mar-a-Lago on the Med is a dream for Netanyahu and his settler colonialist allies.

I give it a matter of weeks before Rachel Reeves decides the reason for Britain's various economic crises isn't housing, or the cost of living, or inequality, but home working.

Thames Water rescuers demand temporary renationalisation to cut debts, oust bosses.. After that they want reprivatisation, return to profiteering, dividends, exploitation. Nothing will change until profit motive is eliminated. Need public ownership. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

A violent criminal? A threat to society? A danger to democracy? No, no and no. This is someone being punished again and again for giving a damn about humanity and the living world. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

If true, what Labour front bench is doing is unforgivable. The #CANBill is essential & has backing of huge number of experts, scientists, unions & enjoys cross-party support. If backbench Labour MPs ever consider rebelling against leadership on anything, let it be this - a liveable future for all 👇

How much will this cost the treasury? Shame on this govt for taking away pensioners' winter fuel payments while giving tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires - totally skewed priorities www.thetimes.com/business-mon...

Israel has imposed on Palestinians in Gaza conditions of life that have brought about their destruction, and it continues to ethnically cleanse the West Bank. The ceasefire doesn't obviate the need for the ICC and ICJ to act against these criminals. They need to be held to account.

What is happening in the West Bank is apartheid. And it is still happening. Israel has just locked down the West Bank, preventing movement between each town for Palestinians, while violent settlers roam free destroying property and inciting violence, backed by the IDF, egged on by the far-right.

We've essentially allowed monopolistic and environmentally destructive supermarket chains to grow unabated, so as soon as their billion pound+ profits are threatened by the smallest increase in taxation, they're able to hold us to ransom. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

That you'd never lose your licence for causing death by dangerous driving or repeated driving offences but might for this is utterly insane. Clearly the only limit to our car obsession is when it clashes with our welfare fraud hysteria.

Expanding airports is an issue of inequality. The wealthiest 1% are responsible for 50% of global aviation emissions. But it's our working class communities who are paying with noise, pollution & climate impacts.

Quite surprising that real estate magnate Donald Trump's first executive action is to force employees into office space. Truly a man of the people.
