USS is a kids’ marine conservation charity run by kids for kids. People protect what they love: we show people what there is to love about the sea + why it is so important to protect our amazing marine environment.

The Blue Starfish pod setting off from Ullapool and arriving at Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust on Mull for a day of whaley amazing fun and learning! @youth4seas.bsky.social @arrancoast.bsky.social @hughharrop.bsky.social @mareetodd.bsky.social

A visit to Greenhive to see the work they do recycling and using marine rubbish and see if we can look at sending them some of what we beach clean around Lochbroom and the Summer Isles. @mcsuk.bsky.social

Our species champion sessions allow the kids to explore our library to find a species to help promote & protect & if the compile a fact file to share with others they become that species's ambassador. Thanks to everyone who helps with this & has donated books & support.

A couple of trips in our Pioner Multi 'Mada-Chuain' (Gaelic for 'Ocean Wolf', which was what they called Orca!) yesterday to lift 2 creels. Crab, lobster, Scorpion Fish & a prawn. Lighter evenings allowing us to do more! @youth4seas.bsky.social @arrancoast.bsky.social @mcsuk.bsky.social

Alisha and Abbie are asking if you'll help us and #vote4theboat in the Tesco Ullapool blue token vote, as funds help us take people out who wouldn't normally get to see the sea.

If you are shpping in Ullapool Tesco, please remember to get your blue token and maybe #Vote4TheBoat - Kirsty and Sophe say, because it's the best boat! All funding really helps us do trips and education for all. ullapoolseasavers.com/what-we-do/o...

We're in #Ullapool @Tesco blue token vote for funds to help us continue doing the boat trips and activities we do. Please cnsider giving us your vote if shoppig in Ullapool. Here's some reasons the kids like the boat. 1 Bella and Perla. #Vote4TheBoat

A drone operator filmed as us a pod of dolphin came to say hello. When this happen, stay at a slow speed and consistent direction so as to minimise any chance of injuring these amazing animals. Rewarded great encounter. @naturescot.bsky.social @scotwildlife.bsky.social @bbcspringwatch.bsky.social

We had Cal Major out on our boat on the weekend jelping survey dolphins in the loch off Ullapool, and got to watch them catching and passing seaweed between the pod as part of a social game. @whalesorg.bsky.social @hughharrop.bsky.social @bbcspringwatch.bsky.social @ionamjmacdonald.bsky.social

Emptied our beach clean station at Dun Canna today, bringing in 80 kg more marine litter. By allowing visitors at the site to do small beach cleans that we empty when full, we are keeping on top of this remote beautiful beach. Thanks to all that help. Well done to Abbie + Alisha for heading out after dark in freezing rain today to get 'Please Flush Responsibly' stickers onto a few more toilets around the village - thanks to Ullapool Medical Practice! 👌 More on the background of this campaign here: ullapoolseasavers.com/.../campa......

After hearing of a flapper skate attacking a boat at Shetland, Scoraig Primary kids Brodi & Arhlo sent us pictures of one having a go at their boat whilst angling in Little Loch Broom. These are BIG amazing fish but is this normal behaviour? @ionamjmacdonald.bsky.social @hughharrop.bsky.social

Part of what we do is take the sea saver kids out on our boat 'Mada-Chuain' (Gaelic for 'Ocean-Wolf' which was the name for Orca here). As well as surveying and learning boat handling skills, we have 4 research creels - the traps used to catch prawn, crab and lobster.

This is the Ullapool Sea Savers. They do fantastic work caring for and raising awareness of the local maritime environment. They also love hedgehogs! (And other wildlife) Well worth a follow.

We are trying out Bluesky... We are the Ullapool Sea Savers, a marine charity run by and fr kids. Based in Ullapool, Scotland. Trying to educate, protect, conserve AND have fun. A slightly older clip of what we do. youtu.be/NOwa-eVe7-o @hughharrop.bsky.social
