These are 20 feet tall bizarre prehistoric plants known as giant groundsels, found on the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa.

"daddy, what did you do in the war" son, i archived all 6,793 videos from the Kennedy Center before they disappeared from the internet we all did our part

Now that the sneak peek has confirmed that this shot was in the White Tower, I’m actually bemused that some people thought that this was in the AoL. The heptagonal windows with the Ajah colors at the top was already a big clue that this was the WT. #WoTSkies

Last October I finished implementing the classic 15 puzzle game but using the standard @openstreetmap.bsky.social tiles as the sliding pieces! 🗺️🧩 Currently you can play any of 20 map locations. Enjoy! 🎉 seav.github.io/osm-15-puzzle/

This 5-minute bit of stand up is freaking hilarious! 🤣 @gianmarcosoresi.bsky.social is well-known for his phenomenal crowd work, but the crowd working him up is just *chef’s kiss*. youtu.be/-C6Yt13WkfI

Here are the four posters stitched together side-by-side for a higher resolution banner

My former colleague is developing an #AI cloud service where you could hire an AI-powered junior developer to basically do a lot of the grunt coding work in your software projects. getaidev.com 1/2

Wiki Movimento Brasil has finished announcing the latest iteration (v3.0) of the #Wikidata #QuickStatements tool. If you’ve ever done any substantial editing with Wikidata, you are almost certain to have used QS at least once. www.youtube.com/live/yHqyRyn...

One the tedious parts of mapmaking is labeling! Anyway for this next preview of my 1600s Dutch-style map, I’ve differentiated the colors of the continents, added way more labels, and added cityscapes of New York, Tokyo, Rio, and Cape Town. It’s looking pretty good, I think. ❤️🗺️ #gischat

Brilliant protest. Yosemite National Park workers hung an upside-down American flag — traditionally a symbol of distress or a national threat — thousands of feet off the ground on the side of El Capitan.

Almost exactly ten years ago, I attended one of the public lectures by then Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio about the South China Sea / West Philippine Sea. This was more than a year before an international tribunal ruled in favor of the #Philippines 🇵🇭 for nearly all its claims against #China 🇨🇳.

Since watching the sneak peek, I get why they remodeled the Hall. In S3, the Amrylin Seat is now directly opposite the front door instead of to the side in S1, which makes some of the shots look better. It also conveniently makes the logistics of Nynaeve’s entrance simpler.

I’ve now updated the map to add major rivers, some land shading, and several ocean labels (in Latin!). #maps #cartography #gischat

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

I got curious to see what’s the longest named-after chain recorded in #Wikidata and I found the following non-fictional list of 8 items using #WDQS: 1. USS Indianapolis 2. Indianapolis 3. Indiana 4. Indiana Territory 5. American Indians 6. Indians 7. India 8. Indus River

I’m trying to digitally create a vintage-style world map with 2 hemispheres (Old World and New World) and 2 polar regions and where the world is as it is known by Europeans in 1700. (So Abel Tasman had already seen the western coast of New Zealand and the southern tip of Tasmania.) #maps #gischat

I heard the NEA is only considering proposals related to 1776 & the USA’s 250th birthday & I was feeling intensely patriotic, so I’m printing these really big posters inspired *directly* by the Founding Fathers The cut was carved from the masthead of a 19th century newspaper

Sure looks like Google News caught the Latin Times using a large language model to write an article picking up on my latest report

Oh, wow! Minh decided that my article is reliable enough to be used as a @wikipedia.org source! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special... This isn’t the first time something I wrote became a citation but this is the first time something I wrote for mainstream media made it onto Wikipedia.

Oof. @britannica.com renamed its article about *that* gulf into “Gulf of Mexico / Gulf of America”. www.britannica.com/place/Gulf-o... Meanwhile, @wikipedia.org still uses the prevailing name. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_of...

Ooh, I spotted a goof in the sneak peek. The shot of the Blue Sitters (with the Grays in the background) at 4:13 is mirrored. If you look at the other shots, the order is as follows: Back door, Amrylin Seat, Green, Brown, Gray, Blue, front door, White, Yellow, Red (empty). 1/2 #WoTskies

More Perfect Union released a video on the recent state of the cryptocurrency industry and it’s not looking good for the skeptics. (But, I’m chuffed that the video included @molly.wiki as a resource person!) youtu.be/I4vi75U0F0k

#WoTskies #WoTShowSpoilers I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised that Nyomi was Black Ajah because we already saw her (as spotted by many others) in the veiled-Liandrian-in-Tanchico scene in the teaser. Now can we match the rest of the Liandrin cabal in that scene?

The show has done such a great job in creating objects the books described too well, but the mind couldn't always construct. This twisted redstone doorframe is absolutely perfect. Kudos to production designer Ondřej Nekvasil and his team. #TheWheelOfTime

Just a wee reminder to everyone who will have had the sneak peek of S3 E.1 by the 8th March to use the #WoTShowSpoilers hashtag so anyone who still hasn’t seen the episode by then, and have to wait for the official release, won’t have it spoiled on them. Let’s remember that curtesy. 🙂 #WoTSkies

Wait, Alanna is a sitter? #WoTskies

It was an honor to sign the guest book in the home of Anne Frank. I was here as a younger man and thought about her life as a dark chapter of history. Today, I can’t help but think of her story as one of caution. Our world is fragile, and it’s incumbent on us not to break it.

So, should we be calling it TFC instead? 😂 www.cbsnews.com/news/kfc-mov...

I didn’t know this ahead of time, but my first ever article for @philstartech.bsky.social was selected for today’s print edition! 🎉
