45 years of hell - 25 spent in solitary confinement. Kasibba, an autistic woman was wrongly locked away in a mental health hospital despite having no mental illness.

How can we make sure eye care is available for all? Thank you to Donna at @seeability.bsky.social for sharing this idea. Please share your ideas and experiences as a reply below or get involved in the conversations here: future.nhs.uk/connect.ti/E... #SolvingTogether #EyeCare #NHS

We should not be locked up we deserve a life to live independently and are human beings we are not aliens we need people to understand we can live independently with the right support a hospital is not a home how dare they lock us up where’s our human rights here come government time to take action

People with learning disabilities and autism cannot be left out of future NHS plans. There are still more than 2000 people with learning disabilities and autism, like Kasibba, in hospitals when they could be living in the community with the right support. As a society, we have to do better.

Interviewing can be nerve-wracking for anyone, but for those with autism, learning disabilities, or sight loss, it can be even more challenging.

I met staff and residents from @seeability.bsky.social in Bicester yesterday. They are a great example of how supported care can transform lives, supporting residents who have learning difficulties, brain injuries and autism.

James had an accident when he was 21, which made it hard for him to remember things from his day. But there is one person he never forgets, Nathan.
