Night walk.

I listen to The West Wing Weekly podcast over & over to go to sleep. It’s fascinating how things happening 25 years ago on the show are still happening today. Tonight’s episode is S1E11. And India and Pakistan are clashing in Kashmir then and now. @hrishikesh.co @joshuamalina.bsky.social

TFW you learn one of the baddies is your second cousin.

Every home they visit in the mentalist has teacups and saucers. That seems unlikely.

I agree with Wanda.

Books #18 of 2025. This is an example of why I almost never give up on a book early on. In the first few pages, I almost came to #booksky to complain about an author who clearly wrote with their thesaurus open. Then I got sucked in and stayed up until midnight two nights in a row to finish it. 📚💙

Book #17 of 2025. Though the messaging was a little heavy-handed, I still enjoyed this book. If mainly for a large cast of characters that I enjoyed. #booksky 💙📚

I work in philanthropy. We fund higher education. Fewer US citizen students are applying for scholarships that require a FAFSA because members of their family may be undocumented. And fewer immigrant students are coming to class in-person because they are afraid that ICE will show up on campus.

A lot of great support for the @wilcodems.bsky.social at the Red Poppy Festival today. Lots of recruiting for the @wilcoyoungdems.bsky.social.

I’m 12 minute into 30 minutes of @joshjohnsoncomedy.bsky.social ‘s Drake/Kendrick commentary. It’s enjoyable. I got derailed. Cause this man has pants pockets that he can fit his WHOLE HAND IN. One day they’ll give us ladies pockets too.

It’s early voting for May elections in Texas. Check to see if you have local elections.

If your favorite starburst flavor isn’t pink, why? If your favorite starburst flavor is red, who hurt you?

Evening walk.

Recently we left Spotify. And my partner set up Plex to stream the music we own from our server. And I’m being reminded of all the music we spent so much time amassing over the 90s and early to mid 2000s. It’s been a delight. 🧵📚💙 (Keep reading, I promise there’s books).

Dear Men’s Wearhouse during prom season, I know I’m old enough to have a child attending prom, but I am not the “mom here to pick up a rental.” And I don’t need that reminder of my age today.

But her emails.

Was at the Buc-ee’s today and the cashier ringing me up was talking to the cashier next to her - telling her how she takes half of her prescribed insulin per day over her other option - taking the full dose every other day. America.

I see that spending time with JD Vance was enough for the Pope to be like, yeah, I give up.

Someone needs to tell Top Chef about the app AnyList. When the chefs are working as a team, they could have a shared grocery list on their phones. Of course, it appears neither the show nor the app are on BlueSky.

Evening walk.

@50501movement.bsky.social @indivisibleaustin.bsky.social @thirdactorg.bsky.social @resistaustin.bsky.social I’d like to attend a protest today. But there isn’t one in Austin. Instead, there’s a picnic? WTF? 50501 website calls it a “PicnicRave.” Why are we throwing a party in the face of fascism?

In this episode of The Mentalist, we learn that Jane’s skills at reading people extend to a weird John Nash-level ability to read into all the data streaming from the TVs at a horse track that will allow him to pick the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place horses in all the races.

Book #16 of 2025. I started Bowling Alone and I Never Thought of It That Way. But, having just finished One Day Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This, I needed a fiction. I started off enjoying it. But ended forcing myself to finish. I think it was mostly archaic language of the dialogue.

The light out tonight was delightful.

I don’t identify as Millennial and depending on the source, I could be Gen-X. However I do have some Millennial tendencies. And the biggest one is: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHY ARE YOU CALLING ME ON THE PHONE?! Where I’m Gen-X though: DON’T TEXT ME EITHER. Please email. Thank you.

In this season of The Mentalist we’ve introduced an unfinished industrial loft-like space somewhere in the CBI headquarters where Jane can go to write moodily. Rather than just pontificate pensively from the inexplicable couch in their office.
