This week, writer @taracampbell.bsky.social reminded me that "We shouldn't have to stop being the creative people we are because of the broligarchs' inability to ever have enough. If anything, what we're doing is what makes our country worth fighting for." She's right. Go out and make great ART.

Every day is a good day for a mind and body cleansing hike in a forest.

ICYMI. Kelly Sundberg interviewed @sejalshah.bsky.social for The Rumpus about HOW TO MAKE YOUR MOTHER CRY. "I would say that I wrote this book for me and for other girls and women like me— brown girls, Gujarati girls, people who feel like outsiders."

Make the switch to Libro.fm from Audible ❤️ We might not have a space ship or fancy ads with celebrities critiquing listening speeds, but we do support independent bookshops (and in our opinion, that's way better). libro.fm/switch

"Stand out. Someone has to. It is easy to follow along. It can feel strange to do or say something different. But without that unease, there is no freedom. The moment you set an example, the status quo is broken, and others will follow."

I don't think it was pain that made him so great, I think painting brought him whatever happiness he had. * RIP David Lynch

I believe everyone should go read this book. Granted, I am biased given that I was interviewed for it by my good friend @soniafaleiro.bsky.social, but the sentiment still stands.

I'm thrilled to announce that our short documentary film 𝘞𝘌 𝘞𝘌𝘙𝘌 𝘛𝘏𝘌 𝘚𝘊𝘌𝘕𝘌𝘙𝘠 is officially premiering at the 2025 #Sundance Film Festival! 📷📷 Thanks to Christopher Radcliff & Jess X Snow for making this dream come true.

Grateful for this review from Harare: "How to Make Your Mother Cry actually defies description; it’s something readers have to experience for themselves, like any sublime work of art. And while it’s true that not all formally inventive writing works, this collection succeeds brilliantly."

This is an incredible list by Electric Lit on "13 Books by Indian Diaspora Authors You Should be Reading"! My two favorite recs: HOW TO MAKE YOUR MOTHER CRY by Sejal Shah I'M A FAN by Sheena Patel I hope you enjoy them both! #books #amreading

We should only have access to the internet three days a week. Things would be better

A remarkable room where big and little things happen. I'm returning in December to sit my butt in that chair. Join me!

Playing in March Danceness / Xness @marchxness.bsky.social and winning was a highlight of my whole year! It's been a rough month so far and remembering the joy of this tournament is a balm.

It's raining. It feels like the sky is falling. There was so much loss this year. I can’t wrap my head around all of it but I'm trying to write my way through. Maybe you are, too. I'm talking about how to do it with really smart people, I hope you can join us. www.offassignment.com/writing-grief

It took me ten years to write this essay about my friend, the journalist Jim Foley. The Massachusetts Review published it and I hope you might take some time to read it.

My friend @SejalShahWrites.bsky.social is in the latest issue of Rochester City Mag's Rochester Ten issue. Here's part of my quote from the story: “She’s able to tell her story and use her unique voice in a way that benefits the narrative.” Learn more about Sejal here: https://buff.ly/3AmUpP7

Over at Electric Literature, Wendy J. Fox has written a superb list of #indie books to read this summer. The list includes books by my friends @sejalshahwrites.bsky.social, @charlesjensen.bsky.social, and a raft of other great indie books. Check it out:

I've got a book trailer! Will add a link to where you can purchase the book and/or with ISBN info in case you want to ask your library (for any Academic BSkiers) for a copy. youtu.be/F8WgTYZx0Jc?...

W/ haste I add: this @sejalshahwrites.bsky.social essay is wild, moving in every direction but a straight line, & her vote-whipping—which @marchxness.bsky.social hands know is RIGHT UP THERE w/ "good song" & "good essay"—is clearly stellar. If I drew "Hey Ya" in Round 1 I'd have curled into a ball.

Love this #marchxness @sejalshahwrites.bsky.social essay on 1 Thing by Ameriie: "And yet, there is something about the thinginess of a thing. What’s your thing? What’s mine?" Evokes James Brown and Bootsy Collins. Find. Your. One. Great song/vid/essay combo! marchxness.com/1strd-outkas...
