I love my California yard with its water features and garden and practice space. But I realized I’m a bit like the Como Zoo polar bear wanting to do bigger things across larger amounts of territory, and I end up pacing around the pool in a meaningless pattern.

Two-thirds of both houses of Congress could undo this whenever they want by passing a bill over Trump's veto taking all power to set tariff rates away from him. Tariffs are set by law. The Constitution gives the president no power over tariffs--only our current laws do that.

I’ve now encountered trollish behavior on this site which is interesting and somewhat funny. I asked a clarifying question on a topic of social media follower dynamics, and on that thread I got a lot ad-hominem attacks from people who assumed I was a troll and not asking in good faith.

I have nearly a third of a million followers here. If I actually followed them all back, it would turn my feed into a firehose. For starters, I wouldn’t *see* most posts and even the ones I did would appear as context-free posts that would be lost as the feed refreshed.

After 15 years of social media I've accumulated only hundreds of followers, and my likes per post is definitely a fraction less than 1. And with bluesky I now have no visibility into how many impressions there were of a skeet that got no likes.

I'm sort of ambidextrous with my kick-drum foot which surprises me. Maybe it comes from a thousand miles drumming while driving where you don't want to be pumping the accelerator or the brake with your right foot.
