Sweet fucking ferrets. This is where we're moving. Right into Eric Burlison's district.

www.ky3.com/2025/02/25/s... One of the key components "Codifies reinforcing work as a pathway to self-sufficiency." I think they meant to write "Arbeit macht frei."

I volunteered in my children's school libraries nearly every year they were in school and watched the decline in employment of qualified librarians with horror. Librarians do so much for our kids at every age!

I need to clarify that I am not an employee or beneficiary of GY6, I'm just signal boosting an organization that means a lot to me. Their post came across my FB and they don't have a BSky account, so I dragged it across platforms to get in front of more eyes.

They carry Eva Rosenstand patterns, too, and someday I'll have the fortitude to start one.

We can choose to use technologies that serve our values. We can be thoughtful in our choices. Apps aren't "good" or "bad" but we can identify who they serve and use them differently or not at all if it isn't us.

I've spent most of my day making exactly those judgments. DuckDuckGo over Google, Pixelfed over IG, Signal over WhatsApp, Story Origin over Goodreads. It's a big chunk of brain work and time and considering where things exist on the For Me....Not For Me spectrum.

Yes! It worked! Thank you! DDG imported my passwords, but that one's been a pain for a long time. Woohoo!!

It is and it keeps saying it doesn't recognize my browser, so I can't use my usual tricks to backdoor my way into the account. And of course, I don't have my password list handy. *sigh* I'll just wait until I can get to my list and try again.

Also, for future reference. If you have really dense breasts, I had to request that they compare my most recent to the previous scan rather than just blithely request that I come in for another one. Because, not today, Satan.

Yeah... It turns out that if you add an "s" to the boxer hashtag, you get something entirely different and very NSFW. Sorry to anyone who wasn't expecting that! That'll teach me to preview hashtags.

I hear that. ADHD. I'm wildly effective chasing the adrenaline rush of a deadline. At least until it all falls apart. Now I'm trying to retrain myself to work steadily. It's not going well, but I'm trying.

Oof. Guess who didn't see the payment line.

Now ask me how I burned out after writing a dozen novellas like this. If you do it once, it's not a problem. When your brain decides this is the ONLY way to finish a book, it's a problem. Best of luck and stay healthy!

pomodoro timers, voice to text, playlist on repeat, whatever it takes. Because you will blow through your primary in the first 8 hours. Whatever your brain spits out is what you write. If you have tentpoles left to hit, aim there. Trust your experience to structure the end of your story correctly.

Monster energy drinks. Coffee is not enough. Take your meds. Don't forget to pee. Ask your family members to check in every 4-6 hours, preferably with snacks. Watch the sodium intake so your ankles don't swell too badly. At least four different productivity hacks -- sprints with friends,

If this is for a rough draft, then plow through and get as close as you can. If this is for something that needs to be at 90% or better, then here's what I did: Caveat -- It's best to do this with someone who will look after your physical body because you're fixing to fuck it up for a few days.

I feel like this is one of those situations where an "I completely understand and sympathize" is more useful than suggesting solutions. You'll find your balance. I'm weaning myself slowly...and binging Los Espookys in the meantime.

Life continues. No matter how dark or oppressed things get, you need to cook. You need to eat. You need to clean. The sun comes up, it goes down. None of those things ever stopped under the Nazis, the Russians, the Khmer Rouge, the Communist Party.

One word at a time. Because the world needs those words from you. Hugs.
