Cormorant on the small lake in a local new build development. Such a funky bird in breeding plumage, like a goth Merganser. Interesting birds can be found in even the blandest places. #birds

Lots of new birders arriving here in recent weeks. Bluesky looks like Twitter but is very different. To help you on your way take a look at this post and the linked article. Also see this birding bsky.app/starter-pack.... Happy Bluesky birding! #birdingWales #birdingScotland #UKbirding

January 2025: 143 species on the Peninsula, three higher than 2022 and seven higher than the next best year, so a good start. Obvious gap was Great White Egret. #ukbirding

A very successful Tuesday Birders trip to Selsey & Church Norton this morning. Two male Eiders, a Velvet Scoter, male Long-tailed Duck, 2 Black-throated Divers, dozens of Red-throated, and a Sanderling on the beach. A nice collection of year ticks under a dramatic sky.

Quickly popped into Halsey’s Farm before doing my winter gull survey this afternoon. Luckily a couple of Redpolls were the first birds I saw, looking particularly round and puffed up. The usual waders & gulls in Pagham Harbour, spectacularly put up by a Peregrine at dusk. #birds #sussexbirding
