Six gallons of paint, two small bags of soil amendment and two #californianativeplants in need of rescue from the local hardware store. Walked out to find a dear friend standing with my bike, big smile on her face. Best hug ever. #cargobikes

i wasn’t sure so i went and checked and yep, perez hilton’s face is 100% still asking to be punched

Good news for wildlife: A new California bill — Assembly Bill 902 — was just introduced that pushes regional planning and transportation agencies to prioritize wildlife connectivity and improve road safety in California. Learn more: biodiv.us/3QzFm9w

In Bloom: Viola pedunculata, that I planted for the callippe silverspot Butterfly and the more recently added Viola adunca. Very cutesy, very demure. #CaliforniaNativePlants

Sign of the day…

It's SO EXCITING to see changes in the Outer Sunset that make streets safer & more efficient for everyone -- and bring SF an important step closer to having an incredible new oceanside park and promenade. www.kqed.org/news/1202819... @oceanbeachpark.org @kqednews.kqed.org

I find such joy in riding my bicycle to pick up a book I have on hold from the library. The closest library to me is closed for renovations and I choose to send my holds to the library that is a more enjoyable bike ride rather than the second closest library.

This is wonderful! Leymus mollis is California's native beach grass. Introduced European beach grass that was there makes a very different dune structure. The native grass builds lower slope dunes leaving space for foredune plants while the non-native builds steep slopes & less plant diversity.

Joined a group of friends for a long weekend camping trip to Angel Island State Park. First time staying on the island for me and it was exactly what I needed.

Here are a couple photos from yesterday’s last minute transplanting of our native Leymus mollis dune grass down on Ocean Beach! Next opportunity is this Saturday! x.gldn.io/e/RmwwQ6fG7Qb #CaliforniaNativePlants #SurfriderSF #OceanBeachPark

$170 of groceries by bike. I own a car, but why would I use it when I don’t need it?

Keith Haring died of AIDS aged 31 on 16 Feb 1990. One of his last works, Unfinished Painting, was deliberately incomplete, reflecting the devastating, unquantifiable loss to the arts due to AIDS. #LGBTplusHistoryMonth

I need to know more about this sick cargo bay on the front of this #OmniumCargo. Is it for the bed of a pickup truck? Anyone know?

This Valentine’s Day, I’m sending love to everyone except those who own a Cybertruck.

A thing that I dream of is being able to set off on a random direction with my bike that I've never been before without having to worry about safe bike infrastructure or logistics. I think if I could simply bike away in a given direction for as long as I wanted then everything would be fine

Inspired by what citizen stewards were able to accomplish at Chrissy Field and Lobos Creek Valley, I was thrilled at the chance to finally help out with some dune ecosystem restoration work down at our beloved Ocean Beach Park. #CaliforniaNativePlants

BCI is proud to have worked with California Native Plant Society to create a bat-friendly plant filter on the Calscape.org website. Now, you can see which native plants can attract your neighborhood bats!

Had a great day planting lupin and plantain and removing broom on Calippe Hill opposite San Bruno Mountain. Here you can see the quarry we are fighting to preserve as open space. It is an ugly gash in the middle of the mountain, but plants are returning. Leave nature alone to finish the job

We had a fabulous morning harvesting and replanting native dune grass at Ocean Beach! Thanks to all the volunteers, @surfrider.org, @calacademy.bsky.social and @oceanbeachpark.org along with NPS and our fabulous @sfrecpark.bsky.social ops and volunteer divisions.

Following up on the installation of fencing and signage last weekend, today we transplanted native dune grasses onto the bare dunes south of the trail at Judah. We learned how this project will replace the need for bulldozers and dump trucks to constantly move sand down Ocean Beach.

The U.S. Army's 25th Infantry Bicycle Corps was an all-Black unit of soldiers created to see if bicycles could effectively transport troops. In 1896, the Corps did a test run from Missoula, Montana to Yellowstone National Park, where this photo was taken. #BlackHistoryMonth

Everything is kind of terrible, but I rode my bike 17 miles today so there’s that.

Spotted: One Less Tesla sticker on a cargo bike. Appreciate the refinement of the message.

i can’t access my old last .fm account and i really miss the multi-artist radio and multi-tag radio features. it would be cool to have combo stations on spotify but something tells me they’d be terrible at it

Stepped out during a brief break in the rain to admire a few of the natives that are currently in bloom in our yard. Erysimum franciscanum (San Francisco wallflower), Helianthus annuus (Delta Sunflower) and Ribes sanguineum var. glutinosum (Pink flowering currant) #CaliforniaNativePlants

Never feel more at home than when I’m smoking a j at 2 am and I hear the coyotes howling along with the sirens in the neighborhood

I’ll be at Ocean Beach dunes at Judah all morning. Finally starting the dune grass revegetation for real!
