Attended the Union of Concerned Scientist's webinar about protecting scientists engaged in advocacy and I think the most important message was: The more people who do it, the safer we all are. See the list of resources they shared below. Carry your weight and let others carry you!

🚨 WANT TO HELP US STAND UP FOR SCIENCE? 🚨 Here's a little update on where we're currently at with the planning process! Is your state red or grey & you want to see an event happen? Fill out our volunteer form or share with a friend! airtable.com/app4h5wUssMG... #standupforscience2025

I wanted to highlight this incredible science advocacy resource on the @sfn.org website. There's info on how to contact your legislatures, prep for meetings, and make your voice heard. Thank you to SfN for not backing down from the fight and supporting scientists! 🧠🧪 www.sfn.org/advocacy/adv...

I wrote about the concept of agency (both human and artificial) in the year 2025. gracewlindsay.com/2025/01/24/2...

My coping strategy is: I'll read this book (and the sequel)

Just two chapters in -- I am hooked! ❤️

This is by far the most animated VSS session I've been to (in a good way). Attention definitely IS a mysterious asset or energy 😄 @neurograce.bsky.social

Just downloaded the guidebook app for #VSS2024. And why is everyone posting cats and dogs photos? 😂

Listened to this one over the weekend, quite interesting! Perception vs cognition -- why some "top-down effects on perception" may have alternative explanations, and how causal-effect could be a quick perception. And silence perception (not the lack of auditory perception) is interesting as well.

One (positive) side effect of looking for a job is that I realize there are so many interesting careers out there. It reminded me that many years ago I had this naive idea, that if only learning to do all kinds of jobs in the world itself could be a job 😄

i plan to move to Korea later this year, & will soon hire at all levels (students, postdocs, staff scientists, junior PIs) - docs.google.com/document/d/1... my lab in Japan will run till at least 2025. my job has been nothing but the dream job. but hopefully the above explains it. #neuroscience

Wild flowers season in SoCal, me and my best friend (since college!).

Friends, I wrote up a quick guide to getting started on Bluesky for folks who are used to old Science Twitter. Please share it with your folks who are joining. And please let me know if I missed anything or got anything wrong. 🧪 www.southernfriedscience.com/bluesky-is-n...

Still waiting on Libby for the book ("determined"), might as well watch this first?

🍿 🎬 Compiled a set of (brief) videos on computational complexity for cognitive scientists irisvanrooijcogsci.com/2023/12/27/c...

What a year for Neuroscience! Annual fabulous and clever Review by Mark Humphries. Big year for dopamine and cell types. medium.com/the-spike/20...

I just finished a galley of THE LIGHT EATERS, by Zoe Schlanger, and I cannot say enough good things about it. If you liked AN IMMENSE WORLD and thought, "But what about plants??", then Zoe has written the book for you. I see it as a sister publication to mine. Out next May. Pre-order now!

Let's make this happen, #PsychSciSky! Please repost for maximum reach :)

Such a great summary of everything I look for in journalism. ❤️
