I say a lot of bad things about the javascript/css driven Web UI stacks, but then I go back and check out how Uno/Blazor/Avalonia is going, and you know what? JS won. It does not matter if we like it or not. For the Web UI, JS won.

I just have to ask: does anybody have the source for this?

Reusable in so many countries right now.

AI has also given politicians a golden, shiny can to put things in and kick down the road. Just say that all the holes in your policy and logic will be filled by AI.

Do you like vibe coding? Why not try seeing a "vibe treating" doctor next time you feel unwell?

If you want an lol - Microsoft have implemented Copilot on its own GitHub repos and it’s a clusterfuck, you can see MS engineers publicly begging Copilot to work. https://www.reddit.com/r/ExperiencedDevs/comments/1krttqo/my_new_hobby_watching_ai_slowly_drive_microsoft/

Re all that being said about StackOverflow dying, yes LLMs played a part, but how the moderation was done and the culture that formed mainly around moderation, which then extended to comments and discourse in general also played a part. LLMs do not judge or patronise.

Especially if she's allergic.

This is just ... beautiful. BatmanJuice? BeetleBat ? I'd love, love to see that movie made. What Carrey did in The Mask would be left in the dust (no rhyme intended...)

Re the so called Brexit reset (which is not, at all), the so called wins are not diluting Brexit as some suggest. They're just plastering over the massive harm it has done. Using the e-gates? Give me back my freedom to live and work in any EU country, and I'll accept a 2 hr wait every time.

Brilliant stuff

This is not a pleasant read.

Big savings down at Aldi

I am really not sure we're actually living in .. you know... reality www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW9Z...

You're the hare, and I am the tortoise my friend

Ok, now people are using AI to write their emails, which takes mere seconds for the LLM to spit out. I then have to spend an hour to respond to all the horseshite it produced. I'll have to start asking people not to do this.

There are a lot of incredibly talented people on the job market right now. Many of my friends in DevRel, OSPO, program management, and engineering are looking for their next role, some have been searching for months. If you’re hiring, please consider sharing a link to your open roles below. TY ❤️

If it can not deliver the wild promises thrown around, it may replace 90% of the CEOs making those promises too. Just saying 😉

Why do we have to pay for access to European Standards? Are they not funded by European taxpayers? Assume it is to ensure non European parties do not have access them for free, but isn't the point of standards to ensure as many parties as possible align/comply with them? Why hide them then?

A sensible tear-down of the impossible promises policies which became mainstream globally. However, similar to others it fails to be infuriating because it just refuses to mention how much of the intractable problems that feed these policies are down to Brexit. www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...

I saw a "90s and 2000s vintage shop" today, and it was my wife who stopped me from resorting to violence.

I've been using Kagi for a week now instead of google. No problems, no disappointments re usefulness of results compared to google. I am paying for starter, but I know that I'm not the product here and that, to my surprise, matters a lot to me now than it would just a few years back.

A great test of one's willingness to remain sane is the "but it wasn't done properly" brigade Regardless of how obviously spectacularly bad the idea was, it failed because it wasn't done properly. He jumped off a cliff and died? Well, he obviously didn't jump properly, isn't it?

I just checked twitter after a long time and ... it is ... man, what's that??! Following tab has accounts I am not following vomiting AI clickbait slop. Lots of technical accounts I used to follow seems to have remained though

Just because you’re paranoid, doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you #RenaissanceHorses 🐴

The thing about software is, no matter how absurd an idea coming from another dev sounds to you, there's always at least one other dev to find it sensible and plausible and at least one other to say they did it and it worked. Just remember life is a blip and move on.

To the person responsible for the parfume that makes women walk around smelling like jars of jam. For the love of whatever that's holy for you, please stop.

The first thing you need to get rid of for a successful career is your sense of fairness.

The problem we have as software developers is not the possibility that LLMs can take our jobs. The problem is employers and market taking that possibility as certainty. Being right doesn't matter when you're unemployed. Also, disrupting labour intensive industries is too attractive for capital.

Carlito's Way. De Palma has a trick or two, doesn't he? Those last 15, 20 minutes. The shots, the tension, the finale. Wow.
