I imagine every single Republican in the House and the Senate is thinking, "It's Friday. The break is almost over. Will I show up to work Monday as a fighter for the Constitution, due process, and the rule of law -- or will I cower in a corner with my eyes down? What'll it be?"

House Rep. Gerry Connolly is pushing CDC leadership to explain why the personnel who handle FOIA requests lost their jobs, noting that that the public has a right to access federal records.

Gasparino's been right a lot and wrong a lot, but if he's right, he's unwittingly saying that the White House leaks information to friendly investors who can front-run the markets

NEW: The total loss of NOAA’s office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research —a nerve center of global climate science, data collection and modeling — represents a setback for climate preparedness that experts warn the nation may never recover from. By @abrahm.bsky.social

One of the most shocking things I have read for a while: t.co/lg46ijHLDF

The incompetence and cruelty are unbearable.

I was at the rally in front of SCOTUS yesterday. Wonderful speeches by parents and students who thrive when they see themselves in books and are seen by classmates who read those books. And a great turnout by clergy who support reading and learning. #booksnotbans

30 years after arriving in the US, I just resigned from Northwestern and we sold our house. We are an American family, I became a citizen in 2014, and until recently did not expect to ever leave. But now, this no longer feels like the right place to raise a family and pursue a research career.

I find myself in an odd position where I’m totally confident in my reporting/sources, but other news orgs aren’t running with my stories. Can’t say for sure, but it’s hard not to feel like there’s some distrust of me as an independent journalist. My process is as thorough as top corporate reporters.

To put a finer point on it. Trump’s contention isn’t just that he can deport people without them appearing before a judge, but that he can render them into a life sentence in a foreign dungeon with no process whatsoever.

This should be the top story in Axios’s morning read. But it isn’t. It’s the FIFTH top story. @axios.com www.axios.com/2025/04/23/t...

Ask your own U.S. Representative to be the first to heed @anthonymkreis.bsky.social 's suggestion. Brilliant.

This is some sick shit

Thank you.

Please repeat over and over: “Bending to the whims of a bully will not end his cruelty. It will only embolden him. The response to authoritarianism isn’t acquiescence. Bullies respond to one thing, and one thing only: a punch in the face.” —Gov. JB Pritzker

🚨A U.S. born citizen was arrested in Florida for entering the state as an “unauthorized alien.” His mother and a community advocate showed his birth certificate during a hearing in Leon County. The judge said she had no authority to release him.

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele plans to double the size of CECOT, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal. "Any prison expansion would likely be geared toward holding more foreign inmates. 'Up to the U.S. to send enough to fill it,' someone familiar with Bukele’s plans said."

Thirty-eight of 43 experts cut last month from the boards that review the science and research that happens in laboratories at the National Institutes of Health are female, Black or Hispanic, according to an analysis by the chairs of a dozen of the boards.

“The Constitution does not tolerate willful disobedience of judicial orders — especially by officials of a coordinate branch who have sworn an oath to uphold it,” the opinion reads.

Whew! Sen Chuck Grassley’s town hall should be a wake-up call for Trump & Republicans. Voters want Kilmar García brought home — and they’re pissed Trump’s thumbing his nose at a Supreme Court ruling. This isn’t “tough on crime,” it’s lawless, un-American trash — and folks know it. This is Iowa!

BREAKING: Senator Josh Hawley has said he will be reintroducing a bill to ban stock trading by members of Congress.

Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day.

Didn’t get a chance to post this earlier, but there was a huge turnout in support of Kilmar Abrego Garcia at the federal courthouse. From my seat in the jury room, I heard the supporters outside chanting throughout the hearing.

Researchers estimate that 47 was the plaintiff in over 3,500 lawsuits in his career. We the people can file at least that many lawsuits against his administration's corrupt executive orders and practices. Flood the zone, as someone said.

"the president defied a Supreme Court ruling to return a man mistakenly sent to a gulag... and spoke of sending Americans to foreign concentration camps. This is the beginning of an American policy of state terror, and it has to be identified as such to be stopped" snyder.substack.com/p/state-terror

Fraud. Waste. Abuse. Theft. Grift.

@petebuttigieg.bsky.social discusses the generational project Democrats in general and young Dems in particular need to embark on to rebuild their party.

In defiance of the Supreme Court & without any evidence, the White House claims that Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a “terrorist,” who was “sent to the right place.” This is a blatant LIE. He is innocent. He cannot be allowed to rot in an El Salvadorian jail. He must be brought home.

What the _____?!?

Jess Craven (Chop Wood, Carry Water) makes it easy for you to call your electeds about the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case. The time is right now.

Wouldn't it be nice if every news outlet that covered the Bukele Oval Office meeting noted: District court wrote: Abrego Garcia "has never been charged with or convicted of any crime."⤵️ Fourth Circuit: The government presented "NO EVIDENCE" of MS-13 affiliation. Abandoned argument before court. ⤵️
