This ...

So much of the lawlessness we are seeing now is occurring because the officials involved a) know they can be pardoned by b) a President with SCOTUS-granted immunity. They might prattle on about accountability, but they are bound to him for protection as they break the law.

Thank you Ball and Ball for your great work replicating and strengthening the pulls from our old armoire. Made in Pennsylvania and arrived in San Francisco faster than estimated. I'm speechless. #woodwork #hardware #casting #https://ballandball.com

Not to state the obvious, but none of them were sent to a terrorist prison in El Salvador. They all had lawyers, indictment by grand jury, a trial or a guilty plea where a judge ensured it was knowing & voluntary & access to an appeals process. In other words, all the hallmarks of due process.

Getting to know another stranger. shows.acast.com/strangers-on...

It’s not theoretical. It’s not a future threat. It’s already here: a system of detention and deportation operating outside the law.

Demonstration starting at San Francisco City Hall and marching to Tesla dealership a number of blocks away. Saw one woman "trapped" in a waymo surrounded by marchers. Waymo couldn't budge.

🤣🤣

URGENT: Our client at Bluebonnet Facility in the Northern District of Texas, represented by the @ACLU, was told he’ll be removed under the Alien Enemies Act TONIGHT/MORNING

Hey guys trust me on something. The people that are in the Trump admin, honest to god they are weak children still mentally stuffed in a locker in high school. Leave them there, don’t be afraid of these kids

Which chicken shit House Dem said this off the record? Which one of you is too cowardly to add your name to this horrid statement? Speak up so we can primary your ass back to the stone age.

I understand what Judge Xinis is doing. She is building a factual record so that that record will be crystal clear when this case gets back to the Supreme Court. But I also know it is taking too long. Two weeks is too long. Keep in mind Bukele will just kill Garcia at the last moment if he has to.

Jonathan Swan, of the NYT, asks Ms Leavitt (all paraphrased) "The President said that it was a terrible abuse of power for the prior Admin to prosecute him. How is it not then an abuse of power when he directed his own DOJ to investigate two people he doesn't like?" Leavitt: "That's his policy."

Thank you @jeffjarvis.bsky.social

I was listening to MSNBC on Sirius 118 just now and was taken aback to hear a couple of different commercials ... one was for FEMA and the other was HHS. Head smacking moment

New episode just out of "Strangers on a Bench" by @tomrosenthal.bsky.social

If we allow anyone to be punished or disappeared by the government for their speech, there will be nothing to stop it happening to any of us. "If you give me six lines written by the hand of the most honest of men, I will find something in them which will hang him." -Cardinal Richelieu 1585-1642

Can’t believe it’s #america 💔

Sure. Tell Grandma to just head on over to X to sign up for her benefits.

“They were careless people…they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness…and let other people clean up the mess they had made…” -- F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby (April 10, 1925).

Not sure how these people sleep at night

I quit Prime, but this is so much worse and I can't quit this as an individual. An evil sentiment. Ugh

Today this is happening in our country, right now

Tonight we learned that it was indeed Andry, the gay man sent to El Salvador because of his “mom” and “dad” tattoos, who an American journalist saw sobbing as guards slapped him repeatedly and shaved his head. He is an innocent. And Trump sent him to a torture prison. Bring them back!

60 Minutes could find no criminal records for 75% of the Venezuelans the U.S. sent to a notorious mega-prison in El Salvador. https://cbsn.ws/4clubLP

75 percent.

Check out the "Mueller, She Wrote" podcast "The Daily Beans". Just as "funny" as this cartoon she posted.

Doug Jones reading this live just now was a wake-up call. Niemöller’s words aren’t just history—they’re a mirror. If we keep “shaking our heads” without action, we’ll find there’s no one left to stand with us. Speak up. Get involved. Before it’s too late. @dougjones.bsky.social

When I explained tariffs to my undergrad U.S. history class in the Fall right before the election I watched their eyes glaze over and my heart sank because this shit is both very boring and existentially important.

Small business here ...

I'm about to be voting all night on Republicans' latest billionaire giveaway budget. Here's what you need to know: youtu.be/9LH--39-eiw?...

"When was the last time you said 'thank you,' Mr. Penguin?"

@mdavey10.bsky.social I firmly believe my history and civics teachers are rolling over in their graves. Keep up the good work.

This is a United States Senator MACK: I was laid off from HHS and now people aren’t getting social services, especially people with disabilities BANKS: You probably deserved it MACK: Why did I deserve it? BANKS: Because you look like a clown

We’re going to annex Canada and invade Greenland but we can’t request return of an innocent man from El Salvador.
