Big news out of Eugene. I have a lot of thoughts, but I just want to say that Benavides is one of the best MiLB execs I’ve ever met, and absolutely gets what MiLB can be. The job he’s done at Eugene is incredible. I’ve been critical of DBH, but they just hired one of the best in the Biz.

With Max Stassi having gone on the IL this weekend, Drew Cavanaugh is up from San Jose to Sacramento. Cavanaugh played nine games in Triple-A last season, hitting .300. He’s been mashing at San Jose this year, hitting .288 but with a .989 OPS.

Really rough inning for Hicks, 2 doubles, 2 singles, and 2 runs allowed. It’s a little surprising his pitch count is only 26. I’m not one for hasty moves, but now that we’re a month into the season, I have to wonder if we’ll see some adjustments to the rotation.

Checked in with a couple of people on expected 2026 signee Luis Hernandez (expected to be the top player of the entire class). High degree of optimism that he will immediately hit for power and advance rapidly. Less optimism for his future at SS. Also some concern that he’s an avg athlete at best.

Former #SFGiants prospect Will Wilson just got called up to the big leagues with Cleveland. Cleveland took him in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 draft. Wilson production in the Giants system was always a struggle, but the change of scenery(?) has been good for him.
