#politics When you hate what is happening in you country and what your country is doing around the world, let it be a lesson in compassion to all the people who live in other countries you find disagreeable. Let it be a reminder that the people of Iran or anywhere else are not their government.

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people: 1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money 3) We won’t need a lot of troops 4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq 5) We’ll find WMDs 6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators 7) It will be easy 8) It won’t take long All lies.

This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress. This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.

Michael Pham fled Vietnam at the age of 13. He was named bishop of San Diego a month ago. Today, he stood watch at a courthouse: ICE agents were “standing there covered with masks as we walked toward the courtroom. Eventually the agents scattered and went away” timesofsandiego.com/life/2025/06...

oops! all kings

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles

87-year-old veteran who was arrested at the Capitol for protesting against fascism is asked upon his release how it feels to get arrested for the first time at his age: “I’m just beginning.”

If small donors can bankroll presidential campaigns, why can't we crowdfund #science? For science funding, we built a prestige economy around dwindling grants—mistaking scarcity for merit and gatekeeping for excellence. We’ve already seen the downsides of the monoculture of funding: 1/n

Believe it or not Donald Trump's military parade flopping so hard kind of matters, because military parades are a show of force in a normalization of tanks and soldiers coming through American towns, and the everyone looked weak, stupid, & incompetent

*shows up to theater with untrained dragon

This military parade could’ve been a Signal chat

Went to our local No Kings protest today. Turnout was so big it spilled over to all the neighboring streets downtown. Energy was good. It was nice to feel something other than hopeless resignation for a while.

“A deranged maniac impersonated a police officer and killed lawmakers but if you’re an immigrant be sure you immediately comply with plain clothes people who won’t identify themselves telling you to get in a van”, what a fuckin country

We need answers about what happened on Alderaan and assurances from the Empire that it won’t happen again.

Too bad there is no organized opposition party that could in one clear voice support the protesters.

Global fascism? Nah. Global revolution.

The Right Way To Protest is to stand very still in your apartment and whisper “I wish this wasn’t happening” then get your ass to work, you’re gonna be late damn it

The Trump administration will come as close as possible to saying “we are going to kill you” and people are like don’t be ridiculous. Killing is illegal

HASSAN: What is habeas corpus? NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country HASSAN: That's incorrect

This was always going to be the endpoint for people who despise expertise. Millions of people dying of preventable disease screaming “You think you’re better than me?”

I have analyzed the data

I have hundreds of Audible audiobooks and have been a subscriber for 15+ years. If they do this shit, I'm switching to Spotify (or whatever).
