A lot of us suspected, and Napster confirmed, that the biggest risk to an artist isn't piracy, it's obscurity. Easily sharing work increases visibility, which builds audience, which generates sales. Defeating DRM is trivial, so whenever I have the option, I release my work without it.

Easter is over. The eggs have been discovered and all of the jelly beans they held have been ransacked. The sales in my local area haven't started yet. I find myself rooting through torn boxes and upturned baskets like a wasteland survivor. It will be worth it once if I find even a few beans...
