I find it infinitely more difficult to take someone seriously when they say "nucular" instead of "nuclear". One is a word defined in the English dictionary. The other is a narrative tool to demonstrate Homer Simspon's lack of intelligence. Please, things are stressful enough as is. Don't add to it.

"4 in 5 French consumers would buy a more repairable product over their favourite brand" Whether we're trying to save money, become self-sufficient, learn how something works, or reduce our carbon footprint, the message is the same: Let us fix our stuff. www.rethinkglobal.info/159-kyle-wie...

Micro Center in Santa Clara has a unique gold plated RTX 5090 on display.

Part 3 of our CT scan blog series is live! We teamed up with @lumafield.bsky.social + @nostarchpress.bsky.social to teach everyone how to read X-rays like pros. 📖 www.ifixit.com/News/109933

A bag of Cheetos typically has a 40/60 snack-to-air ratio. Chester Cheeto calls this "puff protection". I think he's feeding us lies. Come to think of it, this isn't the first Cheeto-themed windbag to have lied to me...

Part 2 of our collaboration with @lumafield.bsky.social and @nostarchpress.bsky.social is live! There's a little challenge at the end: can you find the capacitor, transformer, and battery in the Polaroid Flip? Read the full post here: www.ifixit.com/News/109675/...

A vast amount of cheap—what I'd call junk—electronics are thrown away every day. If it's easy to buy, it's easy to throw away because it'll have zero resale value and no sentimental value. I'll leave something in my basket and see if I still want it in a couple of days. The answer is often "no".

Setting up the new AI 300 from @frame.work for our teardown video. Turns out you don’t need to depress the chassis intrusion switch to boot 🫣😳

PSA: HomePod tweeters are excellent speakers. Those threads at the bottom aren’t just for securing the tweeters to the HomePod frame, they’re also the speakers positive and negative terminals.

We teamed up with @lumafield.bsky.social & @nostarchpress.bsky.social to put together a crash course on reading CT scans. I'm very proud of what we've achieved together. I hope budding engineers and tinkerers alike will find it useful. Part 1 of 3: www.ifixit.com/News/109137/...

If the Canadian flag is now a symbol for resistance, it's about 2.92 Ohms +/- 2%.

I love Apple's attention to detail. They'll spend time and money on internal aesthetics that most will never see. I also love shattering that illusion whenever I can. Underneath that shiny heat spreader, the M4 SoC looks decidedly un-Apple like in that puddle of bland green.

Apple's C1 modem isn't on the bleeding edge of chip fabrication technology but it comes darn close and it's fascinating to see under x-rays. CT's provided by @lumafield.bsky.social and package analysis provided by TechSearch International.

There was a time when I’d be eyeball deep in .ini files trying to get my rickety old PC to run Oblivion by stripping the graphics settings to the bone. It blows my mind that I can now play Skyrim on Ultra settings on a @frame.work 13… I feel old.

The iPhone 16e is rated for 26 hours of video playback when compared to the iPhone 15's 20 hours. And no wonder, look at the size of that battery! You can find a link to our full teardown containing exclusive die shots of the C1 modem in the thread.

Our iPhone 16e teardown is up with an exclusive look at the C1 modem and DRAM die. Link in thread 🧵

@frame.work Desktop got the iFixit teardown treatment at Framework HQ in San Francisco. youtu.be/5mGzEsRM3hs

Big hardware reveal in progress @frame.work. Another 10/10 for repairability?

About $3. That's the absolute max Samsung saved by cutting BT from the S Pen. The real savings are probably far less, these are very rough back of napkin calcs. Based on S24 Ultra sales of 16.8m units to date, that would net them $50m in savings.

Found a couple of these stickers in a new review unit during install. Walp, that's going to be a ding in the review. No. No. No. Bad sticker.
