An old slang German word for a dog that’s small enough for you to accidentally step on (making it yelp/honk) is Fußhupe. It means “foot-horn.” And if a dog is low to the ground but still speedy (like a dachshund), I’ve heard it referred to in German as a Teppichporsche (“carpet-Porsche”).
