If you want to do something to help those who should have been getting money through USAID and can afford to donate, this charity is ready to save lives. I know they should be getting our tax dollars, but I believe we need to do what we can www.givedirectly.org/aidcuts/

Weird question to my 55 followers, but does anyone know any middle grade books published in or before the nineties that frequently featured a character raising one eyebrow as a show of emotion? I know I read them, probably in some popular paperback series, but it's difficult to Google

March TBR: - Lock In by John Scalzi - The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin - Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift - Maybe something cozy?

I read so many books in February! Escapism? What? I would never \j Anyway, my favorites included The Vanishing Half (Brit Bennett), the March graphic novels (John Lewis and others), The Bell Jar (Sylvia Plath), and Witches Abroad (Terry Pratchett)

Way outside my usual content, but I'm so happy Chikorita is going to be one of the starters in the next Pokémon game! I've been waiting for so long! #Pokemon #PokemonDay

🧵 PIH condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the Trump Administration's mass termination of United States Government grants and contracts supporting essential health care delivery and humanitarian assistance around the world. Here’s what you need to know—and how you can take action 👇

In the 1950's, identical twin sisters run away from a town where everyone is black, but only by blood. One sister marries a dark-skinned man and ends up moving back home. The other decides to pass for white. Are you interested in reading The Vanishing Half? shannonfallon.com/2025/02/23/s...

Happy release day to Limitless! 🎉

Book bans impact public libraries & bookstores, but it’s school libraries where they are rampant ❤️‍🩹 Many kids are unable to make it to the public library. They can’t drive, often times the library isn’t in walking distance. It’s not that their grown-ups don’t want them to be library kids. 🧵 1/11

Last night, a woman in my book signing line told me this… A reader & a fan of my work, she was currently between homes. Back at the register, she couldn’t afford a copy of DEATH OF THE AUTHOR. Someone in line behind her stepped up & bought her a copy.🥹 A reminder of what TRULY makes America great.

The Bell Jar: a classic novel based on the author's own struggles with depression in the mid-twentieth century. Should you read it? My thoughts on that below 🖋️📚💙 shannonfallon.com/2025/02/15/s...

Happy Saturday, Friends! It's book review day on my corner of the Internet! This book makes me want to talk for a year. I love it and am so mad at it, and it's a mess, and it's perfectly New Orleans. Come here me rant for a while about the beauty and the disaster. youtu.be/Iy8P3c8M6Yg

Everybody loves a #libraryhaul Especially when it mixes all three of my favorite genres (classics, sci-fi, AND fantasy!)

The 2025 Project for Awesome, which doesn't actually start until tomorrow, has already raised nearly $500,000 for organizations like Partners in Health and Save the Children. Pretty awesome! projectforawesome.com

My congressional representative put me on his mailing list because I contacted him about an issue I care about. Now his newsletter is bragging about his work on legislation I fully disagree with. Guess who's getting contacted again?

I'm having a great month for reading so far! I flew through books 1 & 2 of March, as well as my book club book (The Bell Jar). Now I'm enjoying The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. I wasn't expecting it to have a major character who's trans, but I'm loving that it does! Fits the theme perfectly 💙📚

An unusual post from me today, bringing together thoughts on many books I've read recently (On Tyranny, On Disinformation, Hope in the Dark, March: Book One) with reflections on the current US political climate But mostly it's about hope shannonfallon.com/2025/02/08/h...

I finished reading March: Book 1 by John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell today. I highly recommend it! Emotional. Powerful. Suitable for both YA and adults We all know about the Civil Rights movement, but if you imagine yourself living in this time*, what they accomplished is truly astounding

Great little book quiz from the NY Times today. An opportunity to test your knowledge and/or learn more about the African literary scene! www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

When Congressman John Lewis was a child, he tried to get a library card. He was turned away & told “The Library is not for coloureds” 💔 He’s a civil rights icon, lover of books, recipient of the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature. “The Library IS for Everyone” 💚 #BlackHistoryMonth

Spoiler-free review of The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. As always, I give my honest thoughts on the book and the type of reader it may (or may not) appeal to. Take it as a recommendation or a way to save yourself some time! 💙📚 shannonfallon.com/2025/02/01/s...

At least I had a good start to the year in terms of reading Books not shown include Limitless: Poetry of an Aromantic & Asexual Journey by Patrick Bex and Brownstone by Samuel Teer
