My tiny rules-lawyer indoor wolf (aka: herding dog) gets so distraught when the cat does something he is not allowed to do that he has to leave the room, like he cannot bear to witness the naughtiness.

Recordings from Vulkanised 2025 have been posted! I did a little deeper dive on how autodiff enables gradient descent, and introduced SlangPy, in my talk here: youtu.be/Wg75trbSqg0?...

In retrospect, it was probably foreseeable that the hill someone decided we'd all die on was going to be the first peak of the Dunning-Kruger curve.

Headed to Vulkanised this week to talk about Slang & neural graphics. Been a hot minute since I've been in the UK!

Hurrah, I'm pretty excited about this: Slang has landed support for cooperative vectors! shader-slang.org/blog/2025/01...

Looks like the video from the Slang BOF at #SIGGRAPHAsia2024 was posted while I was AFK on winter break! If you've ever wanted to see if I can pronounce "parameterized polymorphism" clearly, now is your chance: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gyp7...

A brief bit of Slang news: You can now use Slang in the Compiler Explorer (AKA Godbolt): shader-slang.com/news/2024/12...

I got a ton of really great questions after yesterday's Slang BOF, and referred some folks to our Discord to get more in-depth answers from some of the area experts - so it's probably a good idea to drop a link here, too! khr.io/slangdiscord

About to start the Slang BOF at #SIGGRAPHAsia2024 -- come join if you want to see me tempt the Live Demo Gods!

Today at SIGGRAPH Asia, the Khronos sessions kick off with the Khronos Fast Forward. Hear the latest updates on the Vulkan 1.4 release and news from ANARI, glTF, 3D Commerce, OpenXR, and Slang! Learn More: www.khronos.org/events/siggr... #SIGGRAPH #Asia

Good morning Tokyo! Looking forward to the Khronos Fast Forward today at #SIGGRAPHAsia2024 !

Once more 'round the sun. Thanksgiving, project managed (Bluesky edition.)

The GPU Zen 3 book is out, perfect timing for the Holiday Season! www.amazon.com/GPU-Zen-Adva... So many fantastic-looking articles! Together with my teammates, we have also contributed a chapter: "Differentiable Graphics with Slang.D for Appearance-Based Optimization".

Sharing a starter setup for using @shader-slang.bsky.social with #WebGPU in C++ with #CMake, either for native or web targets. 🔹 Uses the #reflection API to auto-generate boilerplate code! ✨ 👉 github.com/eliemichel/S... Very happy to take feedback about what's good and bad in this demo! More⤵️ 1/8

GPU Zen 3 is out! I want to draw attention to the 96(!) page article I was a small part of detailing all the work from tooth-to-tail we put into making ray tracing a reality in Cyberpunk 2077. It is exhaustive and should be a reference for anyone looking to make RTX a reality in their own engines.

Highlighting this post from @shannonin3d.bsky.social, we're very interested in the possibilities for Slang in MaterialX, where it could be used to harmonize node implementations across GLSL, HLSL, MSL, WGSL, and other hardware shading languages. shader-slang.com/blog/2024/11...

Slang is now officially under open governance at Khronos, and what better way to celebrate than running Slang shaders directly in your browser with WebGPU? try.shader-slang.org You can also compile your shaders to a variety of targets including Metal and HLSL. I'm giddy to finally share this!

For anyone going to #SIGGRAPHAsia2024, I'll be presenting at a couple of the BOFs! asia.siggraph.org/2024/present...

People are posting lists of things they like so the algorithm can filter. OK. - arguing pedantically over documentation - weird math that makes shiny pictures go - translating between two very slightly different dialects of nerd - how to talk to GPUs real good - how to open source real good
