Lunacid: Tears Of The Moon is out, and free! A low-fi prequel to the excellent King's Field-inspired Lunacid. Unlike its more modern predecessor, this one is made with Sword Of Moonlight, an official King's Field fangame creation toolkit published by FromSoftware a QUARTER CENTURY AGO.

🕹️ Bytes of Gaming History ⏳ Sniff, I'm going to tug on your heartstrings with this one, UK peeps. A byte of a Gamestation and in-store Wii launch shenanigans on December 8th. 2006. Just shy of twenty years ago now.

🌐 Bytes of an Internet Past ⌛ A peek at the Blizzard website on 20th December 1996 (courtesy of the Wayback Machine) where Blizz assures you that yes, Diablo is coming out and very close to release (just like Silksong, so close now). Early Starcraft snaps, too, then scheduled for mid-1997

Hello bluesky! We are starting to pick up steam thanks to all you lovely wonderful people who donated and spread. I can't thank you enough. We are about 25% to our goal, which is amazing, but we still haven't crossed the finish line yet so if anyone can and hasn't, please share #transcrowdfund

Transmitted from a cyberbrain in the not-so-distant future of 2030: good morning/afternoon greets. ⚡

"The pinnacle of 3D shooting on Mega Drive" - that's how this cute-em-up and shoot-em-up was regarded by one publication. And y'know what? The game itself makes a damn good case for itself to be called such. So impressive on a technical level too. 📺: Panorama Cotton, Success, 1994 (Mega Drive RGB)

Rabbitholes into Cyberspace. A mention of Ono-Sendai sent me down one to the real-life company named after the Neuromancer megacorp. They worked on a VR headset for the Sega Mega Drive (Sega VR) that was never released but was demoed at the '93 CES. (images from SegaRetro)

From BEEP! Mega Drive December 1993 - an ad for the LaserActive! The LaserActive is a fascinating bit of kit, a laserdisc playing multimedia console with modular expansion capabilities (PACS) for Mega Drive and PC Engine carts and CDs.

Apples... Pears... Oranges... It's a fruitful life being a (potentially illegal) Apple II clone put out into the market, in this case by Pearcom in 1981. The Pear II was a Belgian clone that made its way over to the UK, where it could be had for just under a thousand pounds.

First RGS I’ve done in a while. Recently played through this and wasn’t as disappointed in it as a lot of people.

Finally remembering to do a #RandomGameSaturday Uhh this is Shadow Hearts, a fun spin on the JRPG formula with the Judgement Ring, which adds some light rhythm game mechanics. People prefer the second game, but the first, with its dark, grungy Gothic/Gnostic tone, was always my favorite.

It's #RandomGameSaturday today! Here's RIVIERA: THE PROMISED LAND for Gameboy Advance. First version to see a US release!

For #RandomGameSaturday, I looked through my N64 games and found Pokemon Stadium. I'll never forget how cool it was seeing all of the pokemon in 3D for the first time. Me and my sister used to play the battle mode all the time.

The hella cool artwork on both sides of this reversible inlay for this release of IRIA: Zeiram The Animation, a prequel to a 1991 live-action movie. I've not watched before, only ever played the SNES game adaptation, so I'm looking forward to digging into it.

One thing I love digging into old VG mags for is these Top Ten lists from readers. Through them, you can chart the course of genre fandom by region/demographic and just how regarded some games were at the time. Here in GameFan in April 1996, Chrono Trigger manages only *tenth* place.

Shivers down my spine and prickles all over after re-watching this cutscene from Shadowbringers. Spoiler warnings for anyone playing FFXIV and has not yet reached SHB. Such a powerful moment. Shadowbringers remains my favourite expansion, and it was a wild time to be into FFXIV overall.
