The early days with a newborn are hard enough w/out making parents take an unnecessary trip to the Social Security office, which may be far away in a rural state — & may be understaffed or closed given the Admin’s plans to fire many Social Security Administration employees.

Addressing toxins in our environment will take federal experts, regulations, and research. Caring for children and adults who are sick from toxins requires a strong #Medicaid program. Firing workers indiscriminately & slashing Medicaid won’t improve health. #CBPPJointAddress

A balanced budget? The House Budget Resolution’s tax cuts are so large that even with massive cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and student loans the budget would INCREASE the deficit. #CBPPJointAddress

An agenda to lower costs for families? The President has supported the House budget plan that would make it harder for families to afford health care, food and college. #CBPPJointAddress

When listening to the President's joint address to Congress tonight, it is worth comparing what he says to the House budget plan he endorsed.

HHS makes decisions that affect the health & wellbeing of every one of us. This allows the Administration to make sweeping, reckless changes to policies at a moment’s notice w/out input from people who should have a voice: patients, parents, doctors, caregivers, and others.

Overnight, the Senate passed a partisan budget that lays a path for taking food assistance & health coverage away from people & making college more expensive -- to pay for defense & deportation funding &, later, costly tax cuts for the wealthy.  www.cbpp.org/press/statem...

I want to express my deep gratitude to @PaulNVandeWater as he marks his last day @CenterOnBudget. Paul’s expertise on Social Security, Medicare, health coverage, & more has been instrumental to our policy work throughout his many years here.

House R leaders are reportedly telling members not to worry about their budget plan’s deep cuts that would take health coverage & help buying groceries away from their constituents bc passing the resolution is just a 1st step in passing budget legislation. www.politico.com/live-updates...

The House Republican budget released today by Budget Committee Chair Jodey Arrington is an extreme giveaway to the wealthy at the expense of families who already have a hard time making ends meet.

A flurry of executive actions in recent weeks pose serious risks and concerns, and many are overtly unlawful. New @CenterOnBudget pieces explain the problems with DOGE access to the Treasury payment systems & illegal actions taken related to funding, regs, & citizenship.
