May 1st marks the next phase of my new life journey. The themes of this month: silliness and joy.

No. I really don’t have space for another volunteer in my lab right now. Oh….um…when can you start?

I envy Indie’s ability to be comfortable at all times. Aspirational.

I received a royalty statement on an old book. The balance is -0.46. Not sure how that works, but good luck collecting that from me.

Work up early today. Did work. Am still doing work. One star. Do not recommend.

This has been an interesting journey.

Nice to be entering my grouchy elderly man phase of life.

Being down 3 - 0 in a playoff series. Being down 3 - 0 in a playoff series to the Leafs. (I am sure someone has done this already—so easy)

Odd to see my colleagues, who are brilliantly skeptical in all things, completely and uncritically embrace their own and the university's use of AI. All it takes is a promise of faster, easier, and more (note that "better" is not a factor).

Fancy ugly comfy chair arrived. I look forward to reading in this chair and falling asleep after 20 minutes.

Very funny and very true 😂🤣

A day of administrative tedium. On the plus side, all tasks have an end time and transfer to the next chair. So that is an upside.

It is a rare and good day to wake up and realize that I live in a place with the healthy democracy that elected a reasonable and skilled human.

👇🏼💯

Quebec is such a lovely place to live. But can be so weird at times www.villagereport.ca/village-pick...

Yay, voting. A cheerful and simple process.

Musk interfering with yet another election. Elbows up Canada. Vote strong guys x

Ok. We don’t learn from books anymore. But this was a movie! Smart MFers getting stoned — hehehe, sure this could be the end of the world. But let’s do it anyway. It’ll be cool. scitechdaily.com/scientists-j...

I love when emails are prefaced with “I hate to bother you, but…” You clearly do not hate it quite enough.

Today is a beautiful and sunny day in Montreal. A great day to vote to keep Canada independent.

Rainy Sundays are for making stock.

This baby’s laugh 🥹 It really is the little things. Find joy whenever and wherever you can❤️

Indie embraces the weekend like no one else.

Either the Carplay map is delayed or I am about to enter the great void.

I almost forgot. Today is the perfect date. 😀

Wow. 23 emails, which seem to want a response, arrived between 2:00 and 3:30 on a Friday afternoon at the end of the semester. Y'all have no chill. Gonna finish the final touches on this manuscript and will reply to you on Monday.

Working in my summer plans. Trying new things is high on the list.

Me after reading the news. No, Nigel, things are getting beyond vantablack.

Finally got this book and looking forward to it. My favorite part before starting—the long-winded blurbs on the back cover. Philosophers can’t just blurb.

Oof. There appears to be a blight on my field of effs today. And it is barren.

So cool. I was asked to review a book proposal from a very good friend. And the proposal is great. So happy and proud of my pal’s first soon-to-be book contract.

When you read a published paper, it seems good and useful. On second read, there are table typos of data (i.e., some stats are impossible given the reported means and sds) that all seem to go in the same direction. Oh. Oh, no.
