I’m going to be competing in this, if anyone’s free on Tuesday evening:

As a kid I was always given the impression that I “looked older,” but whenever I see old photos of myself I realize men were just gross. So. That’s fun. (I mean, yeah, I was a cute kid but damn. I was just a kid.)

I have this chronic condition that causes me to not give one single fuck about what Elon Musk is saying at any given time.

This question is for people who wash their curtains: how do you find the energy to do it in between normal loads of laundry? Mine could use a wash, but by the time I find the motivation to get a chore done, it’s already time to do one of the regular (more necessary) chores.

New podcast episode! First of two parts, we speak to the organisers of the Working-Class Literature Festival in Florence, held at the former GKN factory, which workers took over after they were laid off in 2021. Support us, and listen here: patreon.com/posts/wcl10-...

You know when you’re just sitting there minding your own business and you get like a full-body shiver out of nowhere? That’s a demon jumping in to possess you and then jumping right back out after he’s had a quick look around like nooooope

“Raising Mexican flags is not an act of anti-Americanism. Quite the opposite—it is an expression of cultural pride, dignity, and resistance in the face of racism and intolerance.” Full Opinion: lataco.com/why-waving-a...

Guess who ran multiple errands today? Me! I did! Do you have any idea what a milestone this is?

I deeply appreciate how The Orville has carried on the great Star Trek tradition of making every habitable planet look like a different county park in the greater Los Angeles area

Chronic illness is just that… chronic. We may have good days & bad days … but we’re always sick When you say “what’s wrong with you now” or “are you better yet” you’re refusing to accept the reality of our disabilities. Our conditions don’t relent. There’s no break. There’s no “better”

“She said she was worried about showing us the real Emma,” her line manager Paula Mulberry, 53, told us. “We said, we LIKE the real Emma. Which in hindsight was a horrible mistake.”

Update: we also have Khruangbin in episode 1? Yes. Absolutely.

Can already tell this is going to be a good season based off this song alone (also Aimee Lou Wood) #WhiteLotus open.spotify.com/track/2Ntjw1...

Do teen slashers ever get old? God I hope not (just turned 34 and will still enjoy watching a bunch of camp counselors get dismembered completely unironically).

A love poem of sorts for you Valentine’s Day

Sometimes I wish I had "math genius" type of autism instead of "I really like this song, so I will listen to it on repeat for the next 3 hours"

evergreen sentiment

Autistic me: I’m lonely, I should try to spend time with other people. Also autistic me: I’m so exhausted, anxious and overwhelmed. I don’t think I have the energy, focus or mindset necessary for me to meaningfully connect with others and have positive interactions at this time.

yesterday there was an executive order that says paper straws suck so fine i admit it, i guess trump and i can agree on one thing

The Karuk Tribe in Northern California has a long history with fire. In today's episode,  what can the government learn about fire management from Indigenous peoples? Listen here 🎧: https://buff.ly/3WW4F9n

The dancer who waved the Sudan/Palestinian Flag during Kendrick Lamar's half time performance is Zül-Qarnaįn. He runs a project called Open Book Platform which focuses on truth in media. He was released without charge. His Instagram handles are @openbookplatform and @fff_zulqarnain

“Are you going to be a coward?” Zül-Qarnain Nantambu asked himself. “Are you going to take a stand?” With the world watching, New Orleans-based artist Nantambu, 41, reached into his clothes and unfurled a joint Palestinian and Sudanese flag. 🇵🇸🇸🇩🇵🇸🇸🇩

I’m tired of begging to be seen. If you need me I’ll just be here, perfectly visible to anyone who cares to look.

I only make friends with future famous people.

Here’s a poem from my first book, edited to better match the writer I am today:

My life in a pie chart:

Autistic life is no matter what you say to someone you will be wrong. Even when you're right, because you struggle to explain yourself you get dismissed. It's painful because deep down you know you're right and they’re wrong.

#OtD 8 Feb 1887 the Dawes Act was signed into US law. It authorised the President to subdivide Native American tribal communal land into allotments for Native American individuals, thus forcing a capitalist and proprietary relationship with land shop.workingclasshistory.com/...

This is a PSA to all passive aggressives and those who’ve loved them: “Feel free” ≠ I want “Feel free” ≠ I expect “Feel free” = YOU can if YOU want because you are free and I recognize/respect that. See how words have meanings? (Yes, this last line was passive aggression, I’m frustrated sorry)

Guys, Substack is just Instagram in the form of a Thinkpiece, and idk if I can handle it

As more and more students hit the streets, we must step up to support and defend them. The youth have autonomy to organize on their own so we should listen to them & help find tools they need ALL POWER TO THE STUDENTS! FUCK THE PIGS! FUCK ICE! LONG LIVE THE STUDENT INTIFADA 🫡🫡

LA Shit

Why is hearing your own voice so painful 😩

To those asking us to lower our voices, to stop talking, to accept things and to just get along... Sorry but no can do #ThePoet

The joke is I used to be married to a guy who made me coffee every morning. Imagine. (The other joke is I’m still legally married because of health insurance. I wonder what the statistical gender breakdown is of ppl stuck in similar situations.)

North Dakota becomes the latest state to try & enact a mask ban Pay particular attention to this part of the bill “With intent to conceal the identity of individual while congregating in a public place with any other individual wearing a mask” Being masked with other maskers should NOT be a crime

wow just logged off and there are problems there too
