Supernatural, Season 1: Sam and Dean about to basicallly accost a little old lady whom they suspect is doing some supernatural bad shit. (She isn't.) Note the room number.

Electra – w/its focus on identity/masks/persona – is very much my kind of thing already, but still: I loved it! the danger of self-seriousness is avoided by Hala Matar, in her directorial debut. loved the sense of play. My review for @ebertvoices.bsky.social : www.rogerebert.com/reviews/elec...

"Hedda, why don't you just shut the fuck up?" —Elizabeth Taylor to birthday girl Hedda Hopper, who was whining over the sight of Dalton Trumbo's screen credit at the premiere of The Sandpiper

In 2017-18, I got 3 emails/texts from men apologizing for any bad behavior on their part sexually. The MeToo era. It was a theme. I'd think "wonder who I'm gonna hear from today." One guy used it as a verb. "I don't remember Me Too-ing you but I'm questioning a lot these days so I'm sorry if I did."

I need to reconstruct the epic thread I did over at the other place, listing the cinematic "nods" in Supernatural's early seasons. I'll put it back together one of these days. These "nods" were always used in service of the story - so you could connect the dots to themes, etc. Like:

Ok. So. It's pub day. My book GANDOLFINI: JIM, TONY, AND THE LIFE OF A LEGEND is out today. And as I'm sure you've heard from other authors, first week sales really do matter so much! So I'm gonna sell a bit. www.abramsbooks.com/product/gand...

For Willie Nelson's bday: I interviewed director Lian Lunson about her film Waiting for the Miracle to Come, starring Willie Nelson and Charlotte Rampling - they're mesmerizing together- filmed on Willie Nelson's ranch, in the still-existing set for RedHeaded Stranger: www.sheilaomalley.com?p=146217

I saw Willie Nelson at Outlaw Fest in 2017. My car broke down on the way there and I finagled my way into a free(ish) loaner from the tow place, explaining to the guy 'I'm on my way to see Willie Nelson, I have cash on me, can you lend me a car?" lol Sometimes all you have to do is ASK. Worth it.

The greatest Tweet in the history of that horrible place. Posted for Willie Nelson's 92nd !!!! birthday.

Had breakfast with one of my oldest friends yesterday. We met in the 8th grade. She gave me a gift. She knows me so well.

Reading Miroslav Krleža’s travelogue detailing his trip to Russia in 1924-25. He wanted to see the Revolution first-hand. It’s wild and detailed. I read his novel The Banquet in Blitva a few years ago - it’s a masterpiece satire of dictatorship. He’s a late discovery - better late than never.
