In college I used one of Jill Sobule's songs in a film and gave her a copy. I saw her play (with Warren Zevon, it was an amazing show) and she could not have been nicer to me or kinder about my fledgling attempts at art. Her albums mean so much to me, Pink Pearl was my lifetrack. RIP, special lady.

I like to think there is really deep lore to the Laff-a-Lympics. Scooby Doobies 4 Lyfe. The Yogi Yahooeys were too clean cut, and you can't root for the Really Rotten because that would call the entire moral system into question.

I tried to recapture my old love of Arcade Fire after.. you know.. but the new songs/videos seem like the Win and Regine show. Like.. where's the rest of the band? It all makes me sad, and I'm not going to let it tarnish how brilliant Funeral and Neon Bible are, but.... it all hits different now.

I know everyone is all about Adolescence right now, but I cancelled my Netflix and right now I'm obsessed with Gulliver's Travels to the point where I just ordered annotated editions and I am so excited. I basically use Spotify now as a big version of the machine at Tower Records where you listen to a cd before buying it. Take a listen, then go to the record store. I own more physical media, and I can stop listening to Spotify try to serve me Billy Joel's 'Uptown Girl' repeatedly for no good reason.
