Tuesday, the Brazos Valley finds a MUCH drier air mass rushing in after a quick (puny) round of morning rain. • Relative Humidity tanks below 20% • A WIND ADVISORY is in effect for gusts up to 40mph Fire danger will be ELEVATED TO HIGH RISK (sparks can catch & spread quickly)

My #Arctic sea-ice thickness and volume graphics are updated for January 2025 using PIOMAS data (zacklabe.com/arctic-sea-i...). This month was the 2nd lowest January volume on record. #SciComm #DataViz #OpenScience #OpenData

Just a huge shout out to Woodside Energy, Australia's biggest fossil gas company, who are helping the world tackle climate change ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hail. Floods. (Nocturnal) tornados. Warmer temperatures. Find out how climate change impacts the spring season & (Mets/journalists) grab resources & story ideas ahead of this year's inevitable extreme weather coverage 🔽🔽🔽

“My weather app does it better!” -Weather Watches/Warnings? NWS -Forecast data? NWS -Observations? NWS -Satellite? NOAA/NESDIS -Futurecast modeling data? You guessed it, NWS (via EMC). -Climatology data? The weather data compiled over a long period by techs. -Outlooks? NWS Food for thought. 💭

The U.S. just underwent an extreme case of 🥶"winter whiplash"🥵 with some of us experiencing an almost 100° flip over the past week. 🔻Climate change plays a role. Here are 3⃣ key ways 🔻 youtube.com/shorts/0Z_jn...

"These lessons from the past make it clear that we are now the ones changing global climate. Our role is undeniable, but so is our ability to change the future in ways that will make life better for people and other living things in generations to come."

Most of the #Arctic is experiencing warming temperatures in February. These trends are largest across the Barents and Kara Seas region, where losses of sea ice cover are the the most significant. Data from @copernicusecmwf.bsky.social ERA5. For more info: doi.org/10.1175/BAMS...

Help! Anybody run into this before on their ThinkPad X1 Carbon? • Works fine when in use • White screen appears when laptop has been idle/asleep for an hour or two • all updates/drivers current • Haven't tried reseating SSD (mainly because I'm scared to mess something up) All thoughts welcome!

This morning, #bcstx hit a record low of 21°F, breaking the historic 2021 record of 28° Climate change continues to change the weather we experience, driving more extreme heat & cold Since 2020, 71 records have been set at Easterwood Airport. 94% of those have been record heat

#bcstx won’t climb above 32° today, a rarity here But over the last 50 years, nights below freezing have declined due to climate change Sounds good, right? Nope. These cold nights help zap mosquitoes & provide “chill hours” for plants/trees to rest & prep for the growing season

Those Wednesday morning *feels like* (wind chill) temperatures 🌬️🥶 #txwx

In tandem, climate change has not only shifted favorable conditions for tornadic storms east but expanded the season earlier into late winter/early spring. More details & resources/visuals: 🌪️ climatecentral.org/climate-matt... 🌙 climatecentral.org/climate-matt...

Hey, #bcstx. Another day...another all-time record February high (& near record for warmest low) A day made 2-3x MORE likely due to carbon pollution Weekend forecast? Hotter @climatecentral.org Climate Shift Index shows Saturday's high is virtually impossible w/out a fingerprint of climate change

February 4th & #bcstx reached a 2nd record high in as many days 🌡️84°. That replaces the 68-year-old record high of 82° 🔴 Climate Shift Index (Attribution Science) shows winter warmth like this is TWICE as likely due to climate change The impact? A/C gets turned on which = increased costs for many

A record 84° in #bcstx on February 3rd. 🔴These unusual, spring-like temperatures you experienced today in the Brazos Valley are now at least ▶️TWICE as likely◀️ to occur going forward due to human-caused climate change. Another record. Another fingerprint of climate change expected Tuesday.

January 2025 #Arctic sea ice extent was the 2nd lowest on record... This was 1,290,000 km² below the 1981-2010 average. January ice extent is decreasing at about 2.83% per decade. Data: NSIDC (nsidc.org/data/seaice_...).

This week, 24 million people across Kenya faced at least one day of unusually hot January temperatures made at least 5x MORE likely by human-caused climate change. 📰Read more in this week's Climate Shift Index "Heat Signal" Blog 👉 bit.ly/Heat-signal-...

While you may still be reaching for a coat, it doesn't feel like the final days of January in the Upper Midwest 🌡️ Temperatures: 20°–30°F above average Climate Shift Index shows these conditions have a strong influence of -- and would be extremely rare without -- climate change

Worth noting: this isn't just a today -- January 26th -- thing. Most of the reliable weather reporting stations in Alaska are in the running for one of the...if not the absolute...WARMEST Januarys of record #akwx

Storm #Éowyn hit Friday with hurricane-force winds over 100mph, becoming Ireland's strongest storm on record. Climate Shift Index shows the unusually warm ocean temperatures, made 40x–100x more likely by climate change, helped fuel its intensity. Learn more ▶️ www.climatecentral.org/climate-shif...

UK Met Service issued the 1st RED WEATHER WARNING for N. Ireland ahead of Storm Éowyn's expected 80-100mph wind Friday. This bomb cyclone is rapidly intensifying over unusually warm sea surface temperatures, which Climate Shift Index: Ocean quantifies as 40x - 100x MORE likely due to climate change

Which season is warming the fastest in #bcstx due to human-caused climate change? The answer is...well...all of them. While seasons naturally fluctuate, over the last 50+ years data from Brazos Valley shows significant warming across every season driven by carbon pollution

#AMS2025 ...we were so, so close to being part of the #NOLA #snOMG!

...and while warmer-than-average temperatures are expected when Arctic spills tumble into the Lower 48... ...the temperature experienced in Anchorage today is made 5x more likely (aka almost impossible) without a fingerprint of climate change csi.climatecentral.org

#neature Monday morning sunrise on the eve of a (potential) Brazos Valley January snow

NAM 3km is AWAKE! The Brazos Valley's quest for snow Monday Night - Tuesday still comes down to how much moisture we can utilize in this very dry airmass. New data gives us a brief moisture boost & a burst overnight that could produce a quick 1"+ by sunrise Tuesday
