Tulips, roses, and and iris in a glass. With some cherries lying around. By Jacob van Es of Antwerp, whose day is today.

Absolutely gorgeous! #art #paintings #dutchrealism #FoppensvanEs

My violet hybrids are blooming. This Ma’s Pink Beetles, LeMacho (the dark purple), and Rob’s Chilly Willy (the miniature lavender). #africanviolets #plants #flowers

Nobody's doing it like Raoul Peck these days - CANNOT WAIT

Fantastic altarpiece by an unknown Netherlandish or French artist, about 1510, recently acquired by the National Gallery, London www.nationalgallery.org.uk/media/sdment...

William Eggleston, Untitled (Grocery Store), c. 1965-74 whitney.org/collection/w...

Unknown Flemish artist, detail of a Satirical Diptych, ca. 1520-30, oil on wood (Musée Wittert, Université de Liège). I'll let you look up the other half.

The jazz channel informs me today is the great Stevie Wonder's 75th birthday. Here are two of my favorites: the first, 'As,' performed by the man, himself. And the second, 'Golden Lady,' a pretty cover, performed by Kurt Elling.

A glamour shot of my gasteria in bloom. And a full shot, where I haven't cropped off the damage my demon cats have done to the leaves by nibbling them! Anyway, this plant has obv. seen better days, but it's never given me a bloom before! #succulents #gasteria #plants #demoncats

Lovely.

Something pretty for International Jazz day. #jazz #wayneescoffery

It was one of the most amazing cathedrals we’ve seen on our travels. Go on a tour if you get the chance! #art #arthistory #travel #uk #yorkminster #york

LOLOLLL. One of the great stories from art history. #arthistory #artichokes #caravaggio

Always loved this piece. Haven’t been able to see it. The older I get, the weirder it is to me that any of this European artwork lives in the States. Web says this one is at the Met’s Cloisters. #art #arthistory #altarpiece #campin

I have two. Well, more than two. But two I'm sharing to answer the question. U2's Joshua Tree; Elvis Costello's King of America.

White carnations. I love all carnations, and I prefer color, but white ones have the most fragrant scent. Light and sweet and simple. And they last forever.
