1/2 Trump's ignoring many Constitutional and statutory provisions. He is looking for a test case before "his" supreme court, expecting they will uphold largely unchecked executive power. And, if they don't, he will ignore the court. Do remember the courts command no police or troops or $'s, but

Former university pres that I am, I fear Trump/Musk will put academic freedom in their crosshairs. They have a powerful weapon, one repeatedly used, albeit for progressive purposes: conditions for offering federal student aid. No institution, public or private, can survive without that ability.

The President is making a big deal out of banning trans athletes. NCAA has 500,000+ student athletes involved in competition. Fewer than 10 are trans. So, why the hoopla? Time-tested Trump: divert from destruction of our rights and institutions with bonus of dividing and inflaming prejudice.

Ok, no questioning we are in a full-fledged dictatorship. Just check off the boxes. But I find myself wondering: as repugnant as it is, if we must, currently, have a dictator, why does it have to be an imbecile?
