Despite the cold the chickens seem ok. We've lost chickens to heat waves in the past but, so far, never to cold. Even so, I put an electric brood warmer in their coop last night and buttoned it up tight after they went to bed.

We finally attended one of @okcdsa.bsky.social 's Queer Fight Club self defense classes last night. Fun! They do a great job; I look forward to the next one. Bittersweet in that my last text to my late friend/coach Beck was about these classes. I thought it might be a fun distraction for her. 🙁

Last night we watched THE STRAIGHT STORY as a belated tribute to David Lynch. New to all of us, and I think we all loved it and found it very affecting. I was already primed to contemplate mortality and human relationships, so it hit me hard. Beautiful, sweet film without being tacky & sentimental.

My friend died Thurs. Hadn't talked to her in weeks. This is the last photo I took of her, from her birthday last Oct. I gave her that tape deck and a mixtape. She made the gym listen to the entire thing. I'm sorry. You deserved better. Love your people. You never know which time is the last time.

I also finally tried Disco Elysium last night. I'm torn. The excellence of the writing and utterly singular uniqueness of the game are obvious before your character even opens their eyes, but it's all so nasty and unpleasant that it's hard to look forward to playing as a game.

Just finished my first game of the Solium Infernum remake. I lost, but wow. I've got to be among few people who played both the OG Cryptic Comet games back in the day, and I'm super impressed that the remake keeps everything cool about it while upping the production value and QOL. So great.
