One of our ELL students speaks Russian and she brought a book from home for cozy read day in the library! @danpoblocki.bsky.social I immediately recognized the cover and it resulted in a great conversation with her classmates. ā¤ļø Books for the win! #authors

Very sad 6th grader: Mrs. Silwani! All the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Books are out! Thereā€™s nothing to read! Me: Oh buddy, Iā€™ve got you covered. ā¬‡ļø Dav Pilkey, he is hooked! Huge thanks to you and @jeffkinney.bsky.social for books that keep my middle schoolers reading. ā¤ļø #authors #oomslibrary

Thanks @katemessner.bsky.social for writing these stories!

Margaret Peterson Haddix is amazing and I canā€™t keep her books on our shelves! #booksky

#booksky book suggestion time! ā€œThe Mona Lisa Vanishesā€ by Nicholas Day & illustrated by Brett Helquist is a perfect mix of mystery, biography, history, & nonfiction. While this book is for middle grade and above, adults will love it too. I canā€™t keep it on our shelves at school. I loved it!

Itā€™s a fireplace kind of day here in the Orange Middle School Library. Happy Monday! ā¤ļø

I turned the tables on my classes today and had them do the book talks instead of me. All volunteers. They loved it and of course everyone wanted the books their peers talked about.

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #1,964,770!

Someone once asked me what they could do to help school librarians battle book bans and attacks. My best advice was thisā€¦help spread the word far and wide about all the wonderful things happening in your childā€™s school library. We must tell our story. šŸ’•šŸ“š

Last month, I shared a post commemorating my coming out as gay. Every year, I acknowledge the occasion, and this year, it was particularly meaningful. If you missed my essay and have a few minutes, I hope youā€™ll take the time to read and perhaps share it. theauthorvillage.com/phil-bildner...

Teachers: Let's make 2024-2025 the year of nonfiction. Your school librarian is a tremendous resource. #edusky #kidlit

Me turning the last page of this book: ā€œwow.ā€ See my review for ā€œTagging Freedomā€ by Rhonda Roumani in the images. #middlegrade #oomslibrary

The Author Village welcomes Tae Keller, the Newbery Medal-winning author of WHEN YOU TRAP A TIGER to our group. Tae is currently scheduling both in-person and virtual school and library visits and conference appearances for the 2024-25 school year. Welcome, Tae!

Hey school librarians! Letā€™s follow and learn from each other!

Loved this book! Perfect for middle grade. Great survival, mystery, and realistic fiction! See my review in the images ā¬‡ļø.

This will definitely be a favorite in our library! More copies on the way! Thanks Roland Smith for a truly wonderful story!

Teachers! Librarians! Great news! @exlibrismrhunt.bsky.social 's #5KNF Book Tasting Cafe is featured in Canadian School Libraries Journal tinyurl.com/3rfaecwx @captainlibrary.bsky.social #edusky

School Librarians! Remember to make your annual report. Hereā€™s mine. Have a wonderful summer! #oomslibrary

Groguā€™s ready! #eclipse2024

These numbers cracked me up! Maybe I should play the lottery? Fridayā€™s checkout number. Mondayā€™s number. Maybe I should give candy to the first kid that checks out this morning. ā¤ļø

Taking a moment to appreciate my momā€™s Benjamina Ficus growing in her house. My hubby next to it for size comparison. ā¤ļø

Great Monday at #oomslibrary! By the end of the day we were over 10,000 checkouts and I was over 10,000 steps! šŸ˜

Being a middle school librarian, I often find interesting things in returned books, like this note. Wise words and a good reminder for any middle schooler. ā¤ļø #oomslibrary

#Coretta - an extraordinary #PB celebrating the life of Mrs. Coretta Scott King. With gorgeous art by Elia Holmes, Coretta leads the reader through Mrs. Kingā€™s life - the life she never imagined having. This Wednesday Jan 10th at 8pm ET -- please consider attending this virtual panel: BOOK BANS & THEIR AFTERSHOCKS, a conversation hosted by PEN America and SCBWI that I'll be moderating with three incredible book creators -- Padma Venkatraman, Abdi Nazemian, and Adib Khorram. pen.org/event/you-ar...

I just realized my TBR pile matched the color of my nails. Coincidence? šŸ¤£ And yes I know Iā€™m late to the party reading these. Sorry. @nathanhale.bsky.social @lisayee.bsky.social @kellyyang.bsky.social

Finished the first 2 books of 2024 & of course loved them! Two very different stories. ā€œThe Marvellersā€ by @dhonielle.bsky.social is an incredible & engaging fantasy story. ā€œApocalypse Tacoā€ by @nathanhale.bsky.social is a wild science fiction ride. Get both, read both, & share them both widely!

Happy book birthday @lisayee.bsky.social! I canā€™t wait to read this! ā¤ļø

After Covid shut us down in 2020, I decided that moving forward, instead of a new yearā€™s resolution Iā€™d pick a word that will guide me through the year. For 2024 my word is hopefulness. I will have hope that we make it to 2025 better, stronger and more at peace than we are now. ā¤ļøā˜®ļø

Not feeling my best, head cold or something (- Covid test), but my hubby knows that watching my favorite holiday movie will make me feel better. ā¤ļø This is my favorite scene. ā€œ8 is a lot of legs, David.ā€ šŸ¤£ #loveactually

Just finished this masterpiece. Donā€™t wait. Read it now. Have tissues. Lots and lots of tissues.

I decided to make the TBR pile thatā€™s in my head, visual. They are piled in no particular order but the two standing are the ones Iā€™m currently reading. Yes, at the same time. šŸ¤£ Not sure if I can finish all of these in 2 weeks but Iā€™m going to have fun trying.

We made blanket forts for reading. This student just told me our library is his favorite place. My heartā€¦ ā¤ļøā¤ļø #oomslibrary I absolutely love my job. ā¤ļø
