We truly do STILL live in the age of “Sheila’s, Wogs & Poofters” Depressing.

Football Australia has submitted an EOI to host the (Men’s) Asian Cup in 2031, as a stand-alone bid.

All things considered (especially as the AL is largely ignored by mainstream media), these figures aren’t too bad. A couple still need a lot of work, but these numbers would be the envy of large parts of Asia…which is where we are, not Europe…

So, no Canberra in the ALM for 25/26, and the ALW team will need to resolve its funding issues soon, as they want to lock in the schedule by the end of March. Disappointing, but not surprising, given the silence of late. APL still hopeful of 26/27 for the ALM’s.

⚽️ in Australia is 150 years old (at least) in 2025 - the 1st officially recorded game being in Goodna in Aug 1875. Any plans to commemorate/celebrate this @footballaustralia @footballqueensland?

Lovely evening for the 66th #BigBlue - join us on @paramountplus.bsky.social ⚽️📺

The Olympics’ biggest spectator sport makes its Brisbane stadium pitch

Interesting that whenever the moronic mango has a big day in the US (election/inauguration), there follows some fairly wild fluctuations in followers/algorithms at the other place. Time to start building here methinks. #Bots #I’mnotAmerican

Our submission to the 100 day Olympic Review is complete. A Big thank you to @simonhill1894.bsky.social, Elissia Carnavas and the FSAA for their contributions to our submission. You can still put in a personal submission at www.gamesreview.com.au Let's build Perry Park. #fundfootyfairly

Paddy Kisnorbo quits as Melbourne Victory coach to take up “an overseas opportunity” - Arthur Diles in charge for Saturdays derby. Odd timing…

Kusini Yengi out for 9-10 weeks - suffered ligament damage during Australia’s draw with Bahrain…

At the launch of David Weiner’s book “The goals that changed Australia” - great to add another tome to tell the story of the game here…

I couldn’t watch @the-matildas.bsky.social tonight, as I was calling Sydney FC’s game, but just a shout out to Clare Polkinghorne. A wonderful contribution to our game, given a fitting send-off in her home state. Now, about Polkinghorne Park…well done, Polks! 👏

Plenty of ⚽️ on Network 10 tonight - the @the-matildas.bsky.social v Brazil & Eastern v @sydneyfootballclub.bsky.social in the ACL2 on 10 Play. ⚽️ 📺

Ready to go for the #SydneyDerby live on 10 ⚽️📺

So let me get this straight - $500m for Perth (State) & $600m for PNG (Fed), for a sport making $120m in profits in 2yrs? What did ⚽️ get for hosting a World Cup? Half a tin roof in Adelaide, a training ground in Melbn, and a few new ladies bogs. Righto.

Quick one for the new BlueSky users, I'm curating a Starter Kit of Aussie Media & Football on here. Fellow Football tragics like @simonhill1894.bsky.social, @niavowens.bsky.social & @chloeamandab.bsky.social to newsreaders like @sandrasullyam.bsky.social & @riminton.bsky.social.

Another very odd WCQ that typifies the Socceroos group. Australia largely in control (without being spectacular), missing big chances…inexplicably finding themselves behind…then finding a get out of jail equaliser. As with Saudi…disappointment or relief? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Interesting selection by Popa - 6 changes…big chance to take control of 2nd spot, with Indonesia having beaten Saudi…a real group of surprises…

Unfortunately, this will happen again & again, right across the country, until clubs have their own stadiums.

On The Global Game tonight between 8-10pm on SEN ⚽️ 📻 * Socceroos v Bahrain preview * Matildas boss Tom Sermanni * Sydney FC’s Alex Popovic * Elissia Carnavas on ALW * Spencer Prior on EPL * Paul Williams with Football Asia

Lovely evening in Melbourne for the big WCQ between Australia & Saudi Arabia - live on 10 ⚽️📺
