Just here to eat tonight and the good company, including those on the walls. Concorde Club, Eastleigh.

When I bought this in 1978 I really didn’t know that I’d never hear a better album. Bit like #saintsfc winning the FA Cup in 1976…

I'm dying here 😂

Rejecting self-doubt is seriously bad advice.

Veers dangerously to the right.

A happy night only then to read the sad news about Rick Buckler. But what a drummer, in what a band. Immortal. 🙏 ❤️

Classy night tonight at Ronnie Scott’s: French jazz-funk flautist Ludivine Issambourg (great new album Above The Laws) w very tight band also feat. Brian Jackson who collaborated way back with Gil Scott Heron - highlight tonight a poignantly contemporary version, 50 years on, of Winter In America.

Due to the layoffs I am afraid that we have had to take over the running of the US National Parks. We are updating the park regulations but for now the most important thing people can do before visiting a national park is to marinade themselves for 12 hours in olive oil, lime juice & garlic.

Lessons for Britain from Milton Keynes The mocked and derided down is a rare success story of national planning. 🖊️ @JonnElledge.bsky.social

Late to it but I just finished this fascinating account of the denazification and social/physical/economic reconstruction of Germany in the aftermath of WW2. So much I didn’t know and sadly so much to reflect upon as we look at the current world around us.

Really like this new Horsegirl album out yesterday. Impulse-bought tickets to see them at Scala in June. open.spotify.com/album/7C51cb...

I’m always surprised that Liberty’s has survived, after the summer 40 years ago I spent here in the haberdashery department. Cutting and folding cloth is hard!

Every available tube station painting is now on my new website darrenhaymanart.com/collections/... It’s a much better way to see them all. They range from £40 to £75. I plan to paint every London tube station in case you didn’t know.

Not just me then. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

#weekendvinyl thought: in the album of life I reckon each of us is some way into side 2 by now. All about making the most of the final tracks.

The truth is bad enough. Don’t make stuff up. Not big, not funny.

The darkly magnificent Heartworms at the Electric Ballroom tonight

Briefly sat down two and three quarter hours ago before getting on with doing stuff, no time no time, and here I am still unexpectedly watching Exeter v Nottingham Forest

Ah my annual last minute jump onto the wrong train. Again and again… open.spotify.com/track/76XCLl...

Good to contribute a piece for this Homes For Britain publication and to be on the panel for the launch last night in Portcullis House. Loads of good contributions in the pamphlet on how to deliver this brownfield planning passports concept (h/t Adam Allnutt for the room pic)

I’m not saying we live in a rough neighbourhood but there was the severed leg of a small deer on the lawn yesterday morning, gone this morning.

6 of what back in the day the NME called BOFs. NB Elsie Eaton you’re welcome to have Down the Dustpipe back. #weekendsingles

* new music klaxon * Do give the debut album from Heartworms, Glutton for Punishment, a listen. Modern dancy-goth style with Jojo Ornes’ dramatic voice. First ‘25 release that has grabbed me & am looking forward to seeing her/them live this week in Camden. Fab supporting Last Dinner Party last year.

Well today I turned a crazy electricity bill for £8,035.05 into a credit of £238.10 by actually reading the meter and exchanging emails with a sensible human. 😊🪄

Who the hell is Woke Dei was my first thought.

A letter of complaint with real expertise (credit Bob Docherty via @paulbigland.bsky.social). Who could fail to enjoy the craft that has gone into this?

Someone just followed me on LinkedIn who apparently studied at the “Collage of Law”. Great expression for what we deal with day to day.
