I find Mike Mearls' critique of D&D 2024 as avoiding story in favor of mechanics as an avoidance of political content interesting considering how much of the political brinksmanship surrounding the new edition subsequently settled on visual art elements.

Something like this needed to be said. For comfort to mean something there has to be pain.

My latest article in Typebar Magazine is a close reading of the Cities of the Weft trilogy by the inestimable @alexpheby.bsky.social

As soon as Typebar came out this was the first article I read. It's an interesting read about whether we choose game editions due to game mechanical issues or due to broader social factors.

Buckle up for some deep, deep analysis in another @simonm223.bsky.social classic!

Bitch that's how you got Trump.

I probably would have been writing a ton about Project 2025 in 2024 if it were not for the genocide. I'm sure that's true about a ton of the best policy researchers out there. The impact of Democratic Party-backed genocide comes through in a thousand different ways that are largely not measurable

Oh this! The Democrats embracing genocide and not fighting it took away so many of the people who usually help on policy stuff. Like people are all up in arms about who everyone voted for but what really hurt them is the lack of organizers

r/offmychest: i spent 15 years in the forums reading leftist theory and furry smut just for one of elon's DOGE incels to lay off my entire cia unit using a form email

TFW people are calling you out for putting a bunch of innocent people on your nazi pedophile blocklist.

Throwback to an old review of "The Wingspan of Severed Hands" that still astounds me. Thank you, @simonm223.bsky.social for your brilliant writing. simonmcneil.com/2023/08/18/z...

Is it too much to ask people making political arguments against me to have actually read theory

In the 2024 election, some of us urged a vote for the Greens or independents. We said that this was the only way to build pressure on Labour, otherwise they would just act on pressure from Nigel Farage. Next time, maybe listen to us.

Anyone currently got any journals doing an issue on fascism and the USA?

Does Google have an account here? I want to shout at them about this Gulf of America Vichy bullshit.

Specifically a neo-nazi occult Satanist terrorist cyber crime ring. 9 Angles are the sort of people who should be shot on sight as a good community defense tactic.
