It's Pancake Day! Time to EAT PANCAKES in HONOR OF MACHIAVELLI! What do pancakes have to do with the founder of modern political science? Our boy Nick was obsessed with pancakes! & wrote about them at length in his "Art of War." Why pancakes? He'd been studying the ancients of course! 1/?

Perfect!

I have feelings about AI & the web & my experience being trans "in tech" in 2025 - so I screamed some thoughts onto my personal web log. I hope for all of us a more queer & humane future. Keep building communities & dreaming better paths. https://www.miriamsuzanne.com/2025/02/12/tech-ai-wtf/

Really looking forward to this new album by Barker: sambarker.bandcamp.com/album/stocha...

He makes himself big

Really great overview of the “DeepSeek situation” from @edzitron.com (overview is a bit of an understatement, it’s a very extensive look at the issues in the AI industry)

Reader, it was not the power (actually it was USB noise from my Torso T-1, going through the CV/gate outs into my modular)

Oh no, this sucks

Merry Christmas everyone 🎄

Just finished watching the final episode of Wolf Hall. What a fantastic show, wonderfully acted, brilliant cinematography. if you’re in the Uk, it’s on iplayer and well worth watching both seasons. I loved it.

A festive and very pretty Bruges at night.

I saw Conclave last night. A really excellent film, amazing cinematography, great acting, really well written. 10/10, would recommend!

Ugh, I have reached the point where I'm thinking "I need a power condistioner for my studio". Spent all morning trying to eliminate some USB/digital noise, but I think it's coming from the power...

I just set up my domain as a cutom handle here (yay me!). My domain is via Wordpress.com and setting up the DNS entry required was pretty straightforward, but perhaps a little bit intimidating, so I wrote up a post on how to do it: simonmackie.uk/2024/11/28/h...

And this is why Bluesky will succeed- trying to force all content to exist within a news feed was never a great plan, imo

Super niche post, but here’s my tier list of the DE razor blades I have tried this year (with a Parker open comb razor): 1. Feather 2. Astra Super Platinum 3. Personna Platinum Plus On my wishlist to try next year: Kai and Gillette Silver Blues (recommended by my barber)

This evening I’ll be off to Escher Music Connection at Strange Brew in Bristol. It’s a monthly meet-up for music producers, offering the chance to hear your tunes on a big system and meet other producers. If you’re in Bristol and make music, come down? www.headfirstbristol.co.uk/whats-on/str...
