Getting Started

Well this might rattle a few cages…

Yorkshire Bylines was the one that kicked off the Bylines Network in 2020, setting a new gold standard for citizen journalism. Can you share this with encouragement to follow, to get them to 20k today? 🙏 @yorksbylines.bsky.social

It’s bad enough former Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been allowed to spout his absolute boll**** about “Brexit saving lives” unchallenged on UK news shows - now he’s traveling the world repeating it! Let’s stop him rewriting history - share these actual FACTS youtu.be/pAm62GE6pi8?...

“wealthy billionaires and corporations… hoard land as an asset, Britain now having among the highest concentrations of land ownership in the world. Half of England is owned by less than 1% of its population.”

Before Brexit the UK was about as rich as Germany, and richer than France. Now it is much poorer than either, by 2030 we will be poorer than Poland, and by 2040 we will be poorer than all 27 EU countries. The magic of Brexit.

The world is 700% richer than in 1970 but the average person is only 8% richer. Because the richest 0.01% are 4000% richer. We are all being robbed every second of every day, and it doesn't matter how much profit or growth there is. It will never reach you.

Well worth a watch is this 1h documentary on the food industry and the impact that ultra-processed foods could be having on our health. It's the same guy who wrote Ultra-Processed People, also worth a read - completely change the way I view and eat food www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

Irresistible: why we can't stop eating aired tonight on BBC 2 at 9pm. This feels like a real moment in the media's coverage in relation to ultra processed foods. Hopefully this will stimulate key discussions on the responsibilities that come with food production.

Why inheritance tax charges are really good for real farmers – but not f... youtu.be/s9J0GpnXNhY?... An inheritance tax charge helps farming to reclaim farming for farmers and for the benefit of the people of this country. Labour is, for once, on their side and even doing the right thing.
