I saw that even the @thetimes.com has started to question the validity of FPTP. Shame it’s the threat to establishment interests which has provoked this change of mind.

This article has a lot of comments on Facebook.

Advocating for the status quo is rarely a route to political success. #liberal #wales #cymru

This is a great piece by @simonpaulhobson.bsky.social. Democracy - in Cymru and elsewhere - is increasingly about being patronised, manipulated and ultimately excluded by politicians who think they know best, but preside over failure. And the populist Right feeds on that. We can and must do better.

Stop locking people up for using drugs Alongside Easter and, the last day of Passover, the 20th April, was also the annual 420 celebration of marijuana. My belief is that Wales must legalise not only cannabis, but decriminalise all drugs.

What if people don't want grown-ups? In that way, the Lib Dems are fishing in a similar pool of voters to Reform UK. Lib Dem MPs say, Reform supporters are motivated more by generalised anger than any traditional political ideology.

Dialectic The future of politics is also the past. Dialectic is a method of reasoning through dialogue between opposing viewpoints, aiming to uncover truth by identifying and resolving contradictions.

Steel No country can build a future for itself without protecting means of production. Labour have saved (for now) steel in England, but Labour are letting steel die in Wales. It is clear to see that Wales continues to be taken for granted by Labour. Taken for granted by Westminster.

New Bank Holiday - How about we start with St. David's Day / Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant. The Liberal Democrats are calling for an additional bank holiday to commemorate next month’s 80th anniversary of the Allied victory in Europe. #holiday #wales #cymru

Completely agree. In other closed list systems (eg Spain) small parties survive by forming electoral pacts. A Lib Dem-Green pact in Cardiff - backing Greens in Caerdydd Penarth and Lib Dems in in Caerdydd Ffynnon Taf - could deliver a seat to each party.

Income for all farmers Given the importance of farming, should there be a Basic Income for all agricultural workers? #farming #wales #food #security

What fantastic sunshine. It’s been a gift. But is the seeming end of April being the month of rain shower’s something about which one should feel concerned?

As a co-founder of @new.wales, it’s been both gratifying and concerning to see how many people have reached out to say how much Wales needs the conversations we’ve started about building our nation’s future together.

At the @newwales.bsky.social launch event last night, a panelists said that Cymru should be looking at how other small nations deliver modern public services. They mentioned Estonia as a great example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-Estonia What other small nations should we be looking at?

Big turnout at the Senedd for the launch of @newwales.bsky.social

Looking forward to this tonight.

Digital curriculum Will this prepare pupils for future global challenges and opportunities? Several schools in Cardiff have begun implementing a new curriculum focused on digital literacy and environmental awareness.

Education in Wales After a century of Westminster and Cardiff-based governments tinkering with the status quo, only a fundamental change can deliver the necessary revolution in Wales’ education system. Read more @bylines.cymru #education #wales #cymru #future #ambition #bravery #creativity

Devolution gives responsibilities to Wales without the economic powers to deliver for the people of Cymru What could be? In @nation.cymru I discuss the status quo. That which persuades us that the way things are is the way they must be, thus stifling any alternative imagination Wales can be more.

More Labour attacks on the poor The Children's Commissioner for Wales revealed that 45% of children aged 7-11 turn up at school hungry. Why has Welsh Labour just voted to reduce cash strapped families access to meal deals? Making it harder to nourish Wales' children. #wales #children #food

UK Spring Statement For Welsh citizens, these measures will only deepen the challenges of low wages, high poverty, and fragile services. In @bylines.cymru I outline why to reduce the suffering in Wales, our nation must empower the Senedd to protect its people from damaging UK-wide austerity.

In yesterday's closing Spring conference speech, the Lib Dem leader, Ed Davey, further positioned our party as the replacement to the Conservatives. This may be what the voters of the Home Counties want to hear but, a Tory-Lite Lib Dems does not meet the needs of people in Wales. #liberal #wales

Health and Social Care Bill (Wales) - comes into law today. The Senedd leads the UK in this legislation. Which aims to end private profits in the care of looked-after children. It is the right thing, I am sure all agree, to remove profit as an incentive from caring for Wales' children.
