"'The moment a child is a born, the Aramaic language would be spoken at home.' he said. 'When we started going to school as children, we didn’t know Arabic.' Now the language is mainly taught at home and is spoken more widely by older generations." #AncientBluesky apnews.com/article/syri...

I have recently become one of the managing editors for @britjnlmilhist.bsky.social - bringing some proper ancient military history back into the conversation! The latest edition has just been published, but still no ancient stuff ... yet: journals.gold.ac.uk/bjmh/

“When the philologist lifts his eyes from his petty daily labour and beholds the majesty of scholarship, then he experienced as a feeling akin to holy silence on a starry night. The sensation of the splendour and infinity and unity of the whole suffuses his soul.” U. von Wilamowitz-Moellendorff.

I went to Norwich yesterday to see the Cathedral and especially the medieval bosses in the nave, choir and the cloisters. They are absolutely amazing in their detail and their humour combining the everyday and the divine, e.g. a pair of Norwich musicians next to the last judgement. #AncientBluesky

Nigel Farage wants to get rid of the NHS and replace it with US Health Insurance which would be 4x more expensive and worse in every way. Except for the £600bn a year profit for him and his mates.
