With Trent probably leaving, then Wharton would be a smart pick up for LFC to give us creative passing from deeper areas. Downsides would be his recent injury history isn’t great, and his cost would be massive. Such a classy player though.

The most important quality the replacement for Trent must have is availability. Trent has been rarely injured over the years, unlike Bradley who (so far), hasn’t managed to stay fit for long. We must sign a right back who can be relied upon to be available.

I suspect the end of Alisson’s contract (2026) is the key here. I reckon he has a plan to return to Brazil for family reasons then. Georgi will either join and play the cups next season ready to take over, with Kweev sold, or he will go out on loan in the PL for a year with Jaros becoming no 2.

Tonight showed exactly why Slot wanted a Zubimendi type in the summer. We didn’t have anyone always available for a pass to keep it simple, until Curtis Jones came on but you want him higher up the pitch more often than not. No slight on Grav who has been great, but he can play as an 8.
