Thanks to some genius by @judell I have set up this Mastodon account via Bridgy Fed so if all the magic works, this post will bridge to https://bsky.app/profile/cogdog.cosocial.ca.ap.brid.gy Just for fun here is a most magical bridger for me

The Fan Who Knew Too Much (Nev Fountain, 2024) was already on my reading list, but Andrew Pixley’s review is moving it to the top… #VixensFromTheVoid https://cstonline.net/sub-culture-club-by-andrew-pixley/

## Merry Christmas from the Moel Rhos Merry Christmas everyone – and here’s to a trainful happy new year in 2025! #16mmngm

Some personal news: Excited to team up with @snarfed.org to form A New Social, a non-profit focused on building cross-protocol services and tools for the open social web. It's time for social media to be centered around people, not platforms. Let's build bridges 🌐 […]

DigEd Discuss: @mavendorf.bsky.social, Dr Laura Sheerman, @oen-c.bsky.social and myself explore how VR and AR are reshaping education. From VR peptic ulcers to virtual labs, our guests share real-world applications and insights. Listen here: spotifycreators-web.app.link/e/5FSNZ4B5hPb #EdTech #VR #XR

And Threads accounts can now follow any Bluesky account which both follows the bridge @ap.brid.gy and has interacted with a Threads post, e.g. www.threads.net/fediverse_pr...

Looks like the latest updates to Threads' Fediverse sharing means that Bluesky accounts can now follow any Threads account which has both sharing turned on and which follows the bridge @[email protected]

I like the way Bluesky does verification, but there's clearly a problem - partly, I think, that they've done a lousy job explaining why and how people should treat .bsky.social handles with a lot more suspicion than trusted domains […]

Random sampling of the Firehose just to see what custom domains people are using. Unsurprisingly, the Fediverse bridge is hugely popular. It allows Mastodon users to post here, and for BSky users to send to Mastodon. If you want your posts to be seen on both services, follow @ap.brid.gy

Hello new folks! I’m posting much more over on Mastodon, but you can see those posts from Bluesky too - just follow @simonwood.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy And if you follow @ap.brid.gy then I (and others) can follow and interact with you from Mastodon as well.

Yes, this: “Bluesky lacks the one federated feature that is absolutely necessary for me to trust it: the ability to leave Bluesky and go to another host and continue to talk to the people I've entered into community with there.” https://pluralistic.net/2024/11/02/ulysses-pact/

It is amazing how OK it seems to be for otherwise incredibly insightful and well-informed people to know very little/nothing about science and technology. It’s otherwise quite hard to explain why there’s so little pushback on YNH’s “AI is the first autonomous technology”.

Great to see the numbers growing on Bluesky. If you're interested in #LearningTechnology, follow the Association for Learning Technology #altc #ALTC24 bsky.app/profile/altu...

Really great to see @A_L_T making a principle break with “X/Twitter” ahead of #altc and their well established Mastodon presence is now complemented by a much more active BlueSky account https://www.alt.ac.uk/news/all_news/our-position-xtwitter

#ALTC24 For those new to the Bluesky platform, here is a handy Learning Technology and Digital Education Starter Pack. 150 folks to follow. go.bsky.app/MLDmLaM @dompates.bsky.social

“If governments are concerned about the dominance of privately-owned online platforms, they have a responsibility to run and own their own.” This is spot-on, from @andypiper https://andypiper.co.uk/2024/08/15/fediverse-for-freedom/

Just looking in here again, since there seems to have been a bit of a UK X-odus this week and a lot of people have ended up here… Mostly I'm on Mastodon still, but I have bridged so you can interact with my Mastodon account from here: @simonwood.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy
