28 years later and the SWIV 3D soundtrack is still 🤌 www.youtube.com/watch?v=kogf...

One unfortunate outcome of the shutdown of Monolith Productions today was the erasure of the studio's website It's archived back to 1996 and, as of last week, proudly displayed a timeline of Monolith's best work Today, lith.com redirects to warnerbrosgames.com www.gamefile.news/p/warner-bro...

The millionaire failson incompetence it takes to buy, squander, and then kill a studio with Monolith’s pedigree — No One Lives Forever, FEAR, Shadow of Mordor — truly spectacular. Another in the infinite line of unwelcome examples that the people in charge of the money offer us nothing of value.

The Mars Vice Demo has dropped! Want to play a cool 3D Adventure game set on a biopunk-infused future Mars with a Transmasc Lion protagonist? Now you can! Try out the demo before the big launch on the 6th of March! store.steampowered.com/app/1886910/... #SteamNextFest #Furry #Indiegame

With the current Next Fest on everyone's minds I think it's worth noting the impossible strain public demos are putting on smaller developers at the moment. You'll do them for your crowdfunding, funding, for your pitching, for publishers, for shows and festivals and finally for your store page...

I have a powerful enough workstation that few workloads strain it. Unless Microsoft update installs some spyware that decides to brick my machine whilst it steals my data.

Huh. I had always assumed the ad side of Unity was so much bigger than the engine and tools. Thus, somehow justifying all the terrible business decisions destroying their userbase. It wasn't. What an embarrassing mess.

unity's quarterly results yall. oh my god ("Create" is the unity engine, "Grow" is their mobile advertising platform) mobilegamer.biz/unity-to-int...

Deleted my Xp-Dev account. End of an era. It hosted Maia, VVVVVV and a half a dozen other projects for 15 years with no downtime. Rest in Peace Roopinder Singh.

Trash Goblin’s Deep Clean update is finally here! 🌟 There's a variety of sparkly new sponges & powerful chisels, so unearthing & cleaning trinkets is an even more special experience than ever! 🪛✨ With new accessibility features, tools & MORE, there’s so much to enjoy! 💚 youtu.be/T64CJh8gY4Y?...

Here’s another, equally as useful, badge people can pop onto their Steam page. Please be honest though. If you did do murders, don’t use it!

I see several people remaking this today but this post's ready to reuse ♻️

Underrated voice acting skill that will always get you invited back: "Exactly the same, but faster." Not rushed, not higher energy, just exactly the same emotional journey on the line, but pick up the pace in case of skipping.

I am very tempted to offer reduced rates for games companies who want to hire me to fix their ridiculous loading times. The loss in income would probably be offset by the time I get back waiting for games to load in the sparse time I have to play them.

Facebook has spent more money on VR than the Apollo Moon landings cost. Yet it still looks like a second year university student group project.

Doing some more tinkering on Maia to "relax" this weekend. Having no time or financial pressure to work on this and much less emotional investment makes coding far easier. Already fixed several issues that have plagued players and eluded me for years.

According to Half-Life writer Marc Laidlaw and Arkane co-founder Raphael Colantonio, the immensely talented Bulgarian art director Viktor Antonov died recently. 😭 He was only 52. He worked with Valve and Arkane on HL 2 and Dishonored, but also on the animated movies Renaissance & The Prodigies.

🛰️ Hi, I'm Matt and I'm LOOKING FOR WORK. I spent over 10 years working for Nerd³ doing video editing, streaming, thumbnails, community management, packaging logistics, PA work, and more! If anyone knows of anything, please send me a DM. Here's my editing portfolio: youtube.com/playlist?lis...

I'm not a fan of extremely abstract game design prototyping. Not developing the visuals, animation, and sound alongside game mechanics hobbles the process. An overuse of grey boxing and spreadsheets has made so many games sterile.

I've written a new debug drawing system for Maia and to my deep shame, I just could not be bothered to hand-type the coordinates for a unit cube so went and modelled one.

Bombing the Chernobyl sarcophagus is a red line no country should tolerate. There should be a no-fly-zone deep into Russian airspace set up immediately. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Hi! I'm lead writer on Saros, the next game from Returnal studio Housemarque. Created by a fabulous team and starring the great Rahul Kohli. We announced it today, and you can play it next year. youtu.be/rK4W-hBrSZs?...

A teacher did an experiment where he put two balloons on a scale and popped one. The scale tilted and he stated this shows air has weight. I told him that the scale moved due to the violence of the pop, and the full balloon's weight was irrelevant due to buoyancy in air. He bullied me for months..

Calling GetComponent in an Awake function in Unity is a 100% sure fire way to create a bug. The engine just shouldn't allow it. Every project falls foul of this. Every time I've been given a bug that has stumped someone for hours, or even days, it's been this.

Play testing Maia a bit this afternoon to see how the new features and fixes are working. I have become extremely bad at my own game.

Fair enough.

In my evenings this week I got Maia's repositories rescued and up and running on a new host following the sad death of the guy who ran XP-Dev. So glad I am particular cautious with this sort of stuff or it could have been a much bigger problem. Back up your files! In multiple places! Offsite!

I want to keep up with things, but traditional news sources are getting pretty bad at presenting world events. Bsky however, is just a real-time fire hose of awful, especially in the evening when North America wakes up. I probably need some sort of clever muting strategy.

That Queer furry game 'Mars Vice' has a Release date! -March 6th, 2025- Want to play a cool 3D Adventure game set on a biopunk future Mars with a Transmasc Lion protagonist? Wishlist on Steam and Repost to help folks find out all about it! store.steampowered.com/app/1886910/... #Furry #Indiegame

I just made those shapes with my fingers and now my hand won't stop cramping. 🙃

Hopefully the start of Paradox pulling themselves out of that rut they've been in recently.

In just 48 hours, over 7,000 of you have added Forbidden Solitaire to your wishlists! You were warned. And yet you persist. store.steampowered.com/news/app/341...
