May the stars carry your sadness away, May the flowers fill your heart with beauty, May hope forever wipe away your tears, And, above all, may silence make you strong. ~ Dan George

I miss the beautiful, kind postings of accounts like Ramblings, Beatrice Groves, Kylie Riordan and others on the other place. If you know the kind of posts I mean, can you recommend any accounts here that are posting similar content?

A little night music by one of my favourite composers (and persons). www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmOa...

It's interesting to discover how much more I'm reading again after having had to mute so many words that my timeline is very sparse. The #20books20days posts have inspired library loans of more recent litterature that I wouldn't have found otherwise. #BookSky 📚📚📚📚📚

Linnean Lecture this Thursday in-person at the Society with @brycchancarey.bsky.social! How did late eighteenth-century British abolitionists come to view the slave trade and British colonial slavery as unnatural, a "dread perversion" of nature? Book on the link below: shorturl.at/fGpub

In the 19th century, some Britons protested against the use of enslaved people in West Indies sugar production by buying sugar from the East Indies and using bowls labelled ‘not made by slaves.’ Mary Shelley protested by abstaining from sugar in her tea altogether.

Giacomo Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly premiered #OnThisDay in 1904. Ganna Walska wore this c. 1923 Erté designed painted silk kimono to portray Cio-Cio-San. The press weren't overly complimentary of Walska's voice, but she must have looked stunning. LACMA collection. #costume #fashionhistory

It's interesting. Sometime you need to write like there is nobody listening and sometimes you can't write if you feel like noone will ever read it. The key might be to rephrase the last part. Sometimes you can't write if you feel like/are afraid that nobody cares or that it won't make a difference.

Bandcamp lets us keep 85% of revenue. That is the best rate of anybody out there. Over a period of about 15 years, I have taken home ~$3000. Every album is "pay what you want", so you all rock. If you bought an album for $5 then you gave me more than streaming the whole album ~300 times.

Absolute privilege to hear a musically brilliant performance of Thea Musgrave’s Mary Queen of Scots and to see the composer there in the front row. She’s 96, btw.

It's a gift to have a decades long collaborator & friend like Wolfram Rieger. To have grown as artists together over the years, and to continue to perform together now is something truly special. Looking forward to our program at the Pierre Boulez Saal on Sunday! 🔗 www.boulezsaal.de/de/event/tho...
