The comments below are antisemitic. Also, they remind me, that Trump is a Russian as far as I'm concerned. He's become a Russian. He used to just be an Orange Douchecanoe, but now he's a Russian Orange Douchecanoe.

Attacking trans people is bullying. It's time for it to stop, and the Dems who are piling on should be ashamed of themselves. Read this. Be kind. Show grace. Have empathy. open.substack.com/pub/thebulwa...

I sent this message to my Democratic Senator, Tammy Baldwin, just now: The Republicans want your help to help them govern, but they are ignoring anything we would want. They deserve no help. 1/x

Paul, what the President and US Government are doing IS real news, just because it isn’t economic data from BLS doesn’t mean it’s not real.

It’s pretty fucking simple. You don’t need the 1st Amendment to protect popular speech. You need it to protect UNpopular speech. I don’t have to like the guy, his politics, or his tactics, to know that ICE disappearing legal, permanent residents is a bad fucking sign. First it’s him. Then us.

Armed government agents went to the home of a lawful resident of the United States without a warrant and arrested him over the content of his speech. This is a five-alarm fire for civil liberties.

Urging press to think about how this would be covered if it happened in another country and to report it as such. This is not some "escalation" of a political contest or tit-for-tat over campus protests. A person was abducted, without charge, by government agents in an act of political repression.

The President of the United States is vowing to disappear students from college campuses who say things the government doesn't like. There are not enough alarms for this.

Or…and just hear me out here… Orange Douchecanoe and Nazi Leon inherited a strong economy and are totally fucking it up, screwing most Americans over, making the country weaker.

if you find yourself reluctant to support the guy at Columbia because you find some of the politics he espoused distasteful or even abhorrent, you should know that this is exactly the reaction that they hoped for in choosing him as a target for unlawful detention based on political speech.

I’m really stressed about this today. Going after green card holders through ICE like this is fucking insane. Of course he starts with the unpopular guy. That’s what you do when you want to later go after the popular guys—by then the precedent is set. Fellow patriotic Americans, this cannot stand.

Look, folks, this is it. The entire ballgame. Either we're a Republic of laws & the Constitution, or we have a dictator. This is fascism, & the impeachment vote should be happening today. Every single university president in the country should be out, in front of microphones, condemning this.

I disagree with things he says, and I’ll defend to the death his right to say those things. If he’s committed a crime, publicly prosecute him in a court of law. Revoking a green card without due process is a direct undermining of America and cannot be allowed to happen.

Look I understand why candidates text & email for money. It’s important. They should. But they should follow the rules. I have unsubscribed from @joshweil.bsky.social’s texts like at least 6 times. They just keep using different phone numbers. I know you need money. But if I unsub, respect that.

I agree with this post conceptually (Newsom / Kirk was gross) but the writer is replying to a post on tariffs, saying we shouldn’t concede an inch. Since when are progressive Democrats supposed to believe in extreme laissez-faire free trade? Like… no.

I haven’t seen a lot of reporting about this out in the mainstream media, but just confirmed that US Department of Education employees did receive this email last night. Astonishing that it wasn’t major news this morning.

I’ve been a “set it and forget it”guy on my retirement account, but I kind of worry that not a good strategy anymore? Could all of these crazy moves cause an extended downturn? Should I have gotten out of stock funds?

What I can’t get over is that Trump voters continue to behave on one hand as if the United States is some sort of hellscape that needs to be torn down to it studs and built back up…. But

Dems should simply say no. Non-negotiable: -Musk & DOGE out -Legally-binding way to prevent impoundment -Congress must agree to any agency shutdown -get rid of all dumb offers to cut workforce Or simply say “no.” Otherwise any deal is meaningless. www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

If our enemies, such as Putin, were trying to destroy America, what would they do different? This is exactly what our enemies want. They want us to abandon Europe. They want to cause internal chaos to America’s economy and civil society. And that’s exactly what they are getting.

Underlying all this is that the progressive movement must acknowledge that we haven’t built mass support for our perspective. We can sue and rant about the rule of law all day but if people don’t rise up and say this is not what we want, it doesn’t matter.

This is fucking insane. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

There is a simple solution to the CBS/Trump lawsuit. The Harris campaign should sue Fox and insist Fox release the unedited versions of all their many edited interviews with Trump.

In addition to providing ZERO Dem votes for their insane fiscal plan, Murphy is right they cannot provide votes for anything. Again, if this was policy disagreement, fine. If they have the votes to shut down USAID, fine. But to do it extra-legally outside Congress’ purview is unacceptable.

The real scam: making you fear the “the other” while the rich rob you blind. I wish every American understood this.

I just wanna say that Khris Middleton is good at basketball and I appreciate all he did to bring a championship to Milwaukee. He will be dearly missed, he will always be a Milwaukee Buck, and I will always be a fan. @themilwaukeebucks.bsky.social

Folks super into politics may not realize that the vast majority of Americans don’t see the connection to themselves personally of all the absolute insanity of the last few weeks. It’s gonna be hard for people to miss this one though. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/04/b...

I know how crazy this sounded to most people when I wrote it. Worth a re-read now, I think! www.notesfromthecircus.com/p/the-deep-s...

Like - nothing this week was a surprise. It’s all awful, and he said he’d do essentially all of it. Giving Elon the government checkbook might count as the one surprise. Trump’s Abuse of Power Comes as No Surprise newrepublic.com/post/191029/...

As bodies were being pulled from the water, he cast blame, he blamed black & brown people for the crash. Disgusting. Racist. Monstrous. Democrats, wake up! You sound like politicians responding to him. Fuck that. Respond to him like a human being. A human being with real outrage & righteous anger.

just lol at people ready to accept defeat at the hands of the biggest losers in history and give up. have some self-respect. sandal would never. nothing's over yet. nothing is decided. get the hell up.

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always." -- Mahatma Gandhi, who died #OTD 1948

This is not what the President of the United States should be doing right now. Not now. And if you can’t understand why this is not what he should be doing right now, then I feel sorry for you. My God, he is such an utterly horrible human being.

Sorry to hear of the passing of not only a legend, but THE baseball legend, Bob Uecker. Rest in peace. Will be strange to know he isn’t calling a @Brewers game again. Thanks for all the stories, and all the memories.

Guess what’s more important than ranting about the Gulf of Alabama or Whiteland, Denmark? This: www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

The hilarity of the wrongness of this made me smile.
