I know that there's no good news right now and every reason to be stressed and afraid, but this is a good time to remember that there are people whose entire careers are based on keeping you stressed and scared and they're all on social media

I just got confirmation that National History Day, a program that does more to ignite K-12 students' love of history, learning, and yes, even the United States than anything else I've ever seen, had all its funding cut yesterday by the DOGE-axe at the NEH - including for this year's ongoing contest.

Good to be home.

Now more than ever, it's important to focus on local laws and policies to address segregation. We can't rely on the federal government to help us.

Really excited to close out #NPC25 hearing from Leah Rothstein and how we can address the segregation that we have created in our development patterns.

Friends, whether you are at #NPC25 or not, want to play Map Libs??

For my planning friends, #APA has a new portal for information about what's happening on the federal level, resources for individual members in transition, & a place to share your story. This is a rapidly evolving landscape - let's help each other. #NPC25 planning.org/resources/fe...

9:45 on Sunday morning and I've already seen a driver go the wrong way down 2 different one-way streets.

KC's City Plan Commission reviewed & recommended approval for the expanded NLBM museum space (& new hotel) next to the historic YMCA building @ the 18th & Vine District today. Glad that we continue to study, learn from, & remember this history.

Must read: Mahmoud Khalil speaks out for the first time since his arrest by the Trump administration in an exclusive letter, dictated over the phone to his family, from ICE detention in Louisiana.

I'm really enjoying reading More Than Words by John Warner - the subtitle is "How to think about writing in the age of AI," but it's also about how to think about reading, about being human. Highly recommended.

ChatGPT is a large language model that cannot reason or feel. It cannot get the blues! Anthromoporphizing it does not benefit us.

If you have ever borrowed a book, taken your kids to storytime, used a computer, picked up tax forms, enjoyed a program or othwerwise benefited from your local library, I encourage you to contact your representatives and ask that they stand up for funding for America’s libraries.

Yesterday it was 80 degrees and now it is snowing. Go home, March, you're drunk.

The United States government just disappeared a lawful US resident because it didn't like his speech. You should care about this because it shouldn't happen to anyone, but you should also care because it could happen to you. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/09/n...
