The Pokemon TCG Pocket community goes feral over coins and probabilities. Here’s an argument that comes up repeatedly. Over a large number of games featuring Misty, if we recorded every coin, would we expect to see an equal number of heads and tails? I call it the Misty Hall problem.

Love a bit of narrative design in my JRPG battles. Love it when the flee option disappears. Love it when the POV switches to the mentor figure. Love it when a friend-turned-enemy holds back the killing blow. Love a good demon blade.

This reminds me of quirky puzzle-RPG Half Minute Hero. It has a devil curse arc, but the real demon blade of the game is a powerful pair of boots that remove the option to flee. No big deal, until you tell a monster you can be friends. You face them in battle. You cannot stop your charge. “Liar.”
