Weird animal of the day: the blue morpho butterfly. Those shiny blue wings, NOT BLUE! If you ground up the butterfly and sifted through the remains, there would not be a shred of blue in it. They're blue for the same reason bubble and oil slicks are blue: thin film diffraction!
