👇 Hearing the same from a lot of friends and family in LA

True story…

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

Is it just the ones who are inside someone’s womb? Asking for a friend. FFS.

A small team of researchers responsible for keeping clinicians up to date on contraception research has been cut. Doctors say they rely on the team's guidance when advising women about contraception.

The goal of the changes, which head to the Senate next week, is to save money and send a signal that Republicans are tough on immigration.

If you're trying to keep up with the deportation cases, this is one of the most interesting interviews I've had the privilege of doing. Cecillia knows the cases because she's one of the lawyers litigating them. If you want the facts and the law all in one place, take a listen.

Really? Congress votes on bills without even reading them? Our coalition read and broke it down. Rep. Mike Flood (R-NE) admitted he voted for Trump’s sweeping domestic policy bill without realizing it weakened federal judges’ power to hold officials in contempt.

Here is the thing: these arrests are bullshit, and we should say and act as if they are. There is no reason to give any of these people the benefit of the doubt.

Medicare for All means Medicare for ALL — not some, or a few, or most. Health care is a human right. Every other major country recognizes that. It's long past time the United States does as well.

Trump is literally trying to centrally plan the American economy. I always thought Republicans were against that sort of thing.

NEW from me, @naynagupta.bsky.social, and the policy team at @immcouncil.org. We’re trying something a bit new for our blog, and doing a roundup of “red flags” coming out of the administration in the last week on immigration, rather than focusing on one topic. immigrationimpact.com/2025/05/28/i...

A federal judge has refused to throw out a lawsuit that accuses Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency of illegally accessing government data systems, canceling government contracts and firing federal employees.

Per the UN, Russian drone operators are picking off Ukrainian civilians “like it is a video game” — then bombing ambulances that go to help… then sharing videos of it on telegram. Trump today on the consequences: “words speak pretty loud” 🤔 www.ohchr.org/en/press-rel...

Hidden fees in live-event ticketing and hotels are now illegal under a Biden-era FTC rule that just took effect. Kudos to former FTC Chair Lina Khan, whose leadership could finally make junk fees a thing of the past.

Ukrainians have long turned their fear and despair into determination — surrender was never an option, as it always meant losing everything. While being an obvious underdog, Ukraine decided to become the smartest, most advanced underdog it can be🧵👇 u24.gov.ua/sky-sentinel...

Republicans’ budget bill earmarks a staggering $45 billion for immigrant detention centers. The biggest beneficiaries? Private prison companies like CoreCivic and GEO Group – who both donated hefty sums to Trump’s inauguration. Always follow the money.

Planned Parenthood has paused abortions in Missouri after the state Supreme Court ruled a judge used the wrong standard to block abortion restrictions. The decision comes after voters approved a constitutional right to reproductive freedom last November.

The establishment GOP in Ohio has completely lost. DeWine desperately crying out: “He Is Ohio”?! You think they care about that, when their answer is: “He is NOT Trump”?! That’s the ballgame.

Casar: "The only way to push back on this is for Democrats to be really clear that if we win back a majority, we aren't just going to let bygones be bygones. We have to go and investigate who paid Trump, who paid Musk, who made money off of these pardons because that is really serious."

PLEASE read this thread. It's vital. And offers a way to fight this open threat.

"In Kenya, for example, the WFP will cut its rations in June down to 28% — or less than 600 calories a day per person — a low never seen before...The WFP’s standard minimum for adults is 2,100 calories per day." Just unbelievable suffering as U.S. withdraws foreign aid.

Harvard's president tells NPR he finds Trump's recent measures "perplexing." "Why cut off research funding? Sure, it hurts Harvard, but it hurts the country," he said, adding that those dollars are awarded to efforts deemed "high-priority work" by the government. https://n.pr/43hPDhX

Constituent: Trump and his cabinet in addition to being totally unqualified and inept are breaking laws by ignoring federal judge's orders. When are you going to do the responsibility you are elected for by holding the executive branch accountable up to and including impeachment?

“I voted for Donald Trump, and so did practically everyone here,” said Vanessa Cowart, a friend of Ms. Hui from church. “But no one voted to deport moms. We were all under the impression we were just getting rid of the gangs, the people who came here in droves.” www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/u...

Today in the Oval Office, Trump said he’s considering pardoning the men convicted for plotting to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2020.

British prosecutors have approved 21 charges against self styled misogynist influencers, brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate, including rape, assault, and human trafficking.

Beyond parody.

Science is under attack. The NIH, the NSF, and our research universities. So today, I have a message for America's scientists: youtu.be/MeoZDPy5cIY?...

Sounds about right. This is a reminder that, yes, ICE can in fact bring people back that it has wrongfully deported. It is just choosing not to do that for Mr. Abrego Garcia, in violation of a court order. But in this case, it doesn't have the figleaf of CECOT to hide behind.

Ike would have been kicked out of the GOP today for being the ultimate Antifa.

An administration that wants to curtail, cut off, control, and punish knowledge and learning is trying to stamp out independence and resistance. It is a scared administration. Because knowledge is power.

Given the disgraceful treatment of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa by President Trump in the WH, it is only appropriate that we take 3 mins to listen to an excerpt of Pres Ramaphosa’s recent remarks to his Natl Assembly explaining the country’s Black Economic Empowerment Program. Brilliant.

As Trump's family businesses invest heavily in crypto... -He's instructing the government to ease up on regulating the industry -His SEC is dropping major lawsuits against crypto companies -His DOJ terminated a team focused on crypto crimes. See the problem?

While some law firms are cowering to Trump’s bullying and coercion, others are fighting back — and they’re winning.
I salute the firms and institutions that refuse to bend the knee to Trump’s lawlessness. And shame on those who cave in to political blackmail.

Remember when WH press corpse circled the wagons when the successful Black president said Fox was not news? www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/fox...

You are personally ordering the deportation of people because of things they’ve said and op-eds they’ve written. You don’t give a fuck about free speech.

An investigation in Phoenix marked the first time the DOJ had found the rights of homeless people were routinely violated. Now the department is closing its investigation and retracting findings of constitutional violations. By @nicolesantacruz.bsky.social‬

“The Court of International Trade ruled Wednesday that President Donald Trump exceeded his authority in imposing tariffs on all imported goods, calling an immediate halt to his signature trade war policy.” www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

NPR's new lawsuit is a powerhouse, identifying multiple, independent ways the Trump administration violated the Constitution in order to take revenge on public media. Bottom line? This administration is scared of the truth & this lawsuit reveals that weakness. open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

A good reminder that Trump places folks inside government agencies to dismantle them from the inside out…

I wouldnt be too quick to buy this. Musk got what he came for all along—our personal information. The world’s richest guy doesn’t walk away from a $250 mil investment empty handed. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/u...

I sometimes sit up straight in the middle of the night and realize the country is being run by a lunatic… And a stupid one at that.

Healey said that while she denounced antisemitism..the Trump administration’s actions are “not about stopping antisemitism..“This isn’t about that issue..it’s simply a pretext for attacking anyone with whom the president or the administration has disagreement.” www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

Everyone’s been stressed about tariffs now the courts have spoken. A panel of federal judges just blocked Trump from imposing some of his steepest tariffs on China and other trading partners, ruling that he far exceeded his authority under federal law. In short, Trump’s tariffs were ruled illegal.
