People are SICK OF THIS SHIT. So many people. So sick. Of so much shit. Nothing is a distraction. Everything is one person's last straw. The people most sensitive to changing vibes--politicians and right-wing grifters--have started acting like the tide is turning. BE THE TIDE, Y'ALL.

Another story of 1. Admin sends fascist order 2. Media reports on it 3. People are outraged, say no 4. Admin says “actually that order was a mistake” Lesson is defy fascist orders kslnewsradio.com/shows-podcas...

"I’m here today to show my strong feelings. I’ve had several strokes, so I don’t walk well, I have neuropathy in my feet, and crowds frighten me. But I am here to support my people... "I will lay down my life to fight against a dictator." www.mercurynews.com/2025/04/19/b...

"This checklist has been compiled by grad workers for grad workers to provide support for non-citizens who are being targeted by the Trump Administration. This document draws on resources built by organizations that have been defending their communities and our rights—these are listed at the end."

You don’t have to know everything. You’re not going to know everything, but you don’t have to seek out everything. There’s enough bad happening in the world that you will lose yourself if you try to know all of it. Take care of yourself, you’re no good to anyone if you’re catatonic

alright, i'm asking in seriousness. do folks know what lynching is? do folks know the *legal* issues with lynching? it's actually more complicated than you think, and i'm not a legal scholar so i don't want to step out of my lane--BUT I'VE READ BOOKS.

Never seen it framed this way by all recent elections Wild

Dear senators who think you can’t do anything, Today, Senator Van Hollen - through diplomatic pressure - got a meeting with Abrego Garcia in El Salvador. So that thing you’re thinking about doing? DO IT. ~ All of Us

I don't really care what the "political consequences" are of fighting for the proposition that *everyone* is entitled to due process before they are removed from the United States and sent to a Salvadoran prison. It's not really a principle if you only adhere to it when it's politically expedient.

I went to El Salvador hoping to meet with Kilmar and check on his well-being, and I had the chance to do that last night. Our courts have been clear: this was an ILLEGAL abduction. I’m speaking now about my meeting with Kilmar and our work to bring him home:

I am going to spend the next ten minutes giving USAdians some Actual Advice from a Supply Chain Professional with 20 years experience. 1) It's going to be bad in a way you've never seen, not even during COVID or BREXIT. 2) Don't panic. 2a) Panic leads to bad decisions 1/8

I find myself getting sincerely emotional about this. That he’s, under the circumstances, okay. That his wife and kids know this after an agonizing month without him. That a Democratic politician cared enough to go and see him, even after getting told no at first. Trying matters. Fighting works.

The vet said 〝He's not overweight at all, but he has a round and big head.‘’

let’s look back at what has happened so far Cory Booker giving a 25 hour speech: everyone loved it, raised his profile Van Hollen flies to El Salvador and meets Abrego Garcia: everyone loved it, raised his profile Schumer publicly caved: everyone hated that just a general note to Dems

Let's be clear: Ed Martin has no power here. The government has no business demanding information about a journal's editorial decisions or its positions on "misinformation." CHEST should let Ed Martin know that the cavity he should stick it in is not within their remit.

Considering the state of... Everything right now, I'm trying to use my 'Sanity Time' to be somewhat creative. Guess I'm gonna write a video essay on Fallout 3 then so... If anybody likes that sort of thing, maybe it'll become a thing one day.

Canada has their famous geese. Minnesota has loons.

Like, yes! But also—dark, dark times

The head of our country’s government is in the early stages of consolidating total power. We must of course reject this, but that is not enough. We have to respond by creating a different and better kind of American politics than we have seen before.

Excellent. Here’s the habeas lawsuit filed in DC for all the men disappeared to CECOT we were waiting for.

Seth Rogen said President Trump had “single-handedly destroyed all of American science” while presenting an award at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony — sometimes called the “Oscars of Science” — where Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg were in attendance. Rogen's comments were cut from the broadcast.

When People magazine is posting about your inside trading, you’ve truly crashed out.

UPDATE RE: Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador

wrote about Van Hollen’s trip, and why it’s an important (and successful) assertion of congressional power. Hope to see more of this from Ds. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/van-hollen...

“No time can be easy if one is living through it,” said the great writer James Baldwin. This is a reminder that the present looks different from inside of it. It's important from time to time to try to look at the current moment from outside of it, to try for a little distance from the daily slog.

There are a lot of bad things happening all at once, and it’s overwhelming to think about how to meet moments like this. Jean says to focus on 1 or 2 things that you care about, understand fairly well, and are either local or involve a topic where you’re likely to have influence and find community

It’s a small thing but I continue to be annoyed by the people who write “BREAKING” in posts where they themselves are not, in fact, breaking the news, but are just sharing someone else’s reporting.

JUST IN: Judge finds 'probable cause' to hold U.S. in contempt over Alien Enemies Act deportations

Three Wins Today (April 16, 2025) 1. In San Jose, CA, there was a gun billboard over a liquor store. Many people wrote the mayor and city council member, and today the billboard was taken down. 1/2

A reminder that there is no human being in the United States whom it would be legal to disappear to a Salvadoran prison without due process of law.

BREAKING: The United Mineworkers and United Steelworkers unions are suing the Trump admin over its decision to delay enforcement of a lifesaving new silica rule meant to curb the black lung epidemic in Appalachia. My exclusive for @inthesetimesmag.bsky.social: inthesetimes.com/article/trum...

I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you. The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.

Honestly I'm glad they picked Harvard to try out this novel "we're mad" legal theory of revoking tax-exempt status, given its infinite resources, deep network of powerful alumni, and law school attended by 142 sitting federal judges. Good luck! 🫡

I've been saying for a while now that every stupid, vicious, hamhanded cut to an anonymous but essential program makes some small number of people—thousands, tens of thousands—the permanent, mortal enemy of this administration. Over time, it adds up.
